Previous Arc
The Culling Game Arc
In the Culling Game arc, Sukuna managed to take over the body of Megumi, due to which he gained an incredible amount of power due to Megumi’s legendary Ten Shadows Technique. After Gojo was freed from the Prison Realm, the two began their long-awaited clash in Chapter 223 of the manga in a legendary fight that lasted a whopping 13 chapters. In the end, despite suffering many setbacks, Sukuna defeated Gojo.
You did well, Gojo Satoru. I won’t forget you for as long as I live.

Ever since then, the rest of Jujutsu High has jumped in to fight Sukuna, but none of them have had any luck in this department. This is because the King of Curses is even more powerful than any of them had thought and even though his clash against Gojo took a lot out of him, he has since then regained his true form and has proceeded to defeat many powerful characters like Kashimo, Higuruma, Yuta, and Choso. As of the last few chapters, Yuji has been fighting Sukuna non-stop.
Sukuna’s Potential Demise
Ever since Yuji joined the fight against a heavily injured Sukuna, he has continued to be a massive thorn in his side. Even though Sukuna successfully managed to kill almost every single person Yuji fought alongside, each battle fatigued the King of Curses even more, to the point where Yuji was able to deal an incredible amount of damage to Sukuna bylanding 8 Black Flashes on him.
This was because Sukuna’s fight with Gojo damaged him to the point where he couldn’t open his Domain for the longest time and also couldn’t use Reverse Cursed Technique properly, so he was essentially fighting the others in a severely weakened state. Although he won the battles he had after Gojo, each one chipped away at his strength more and more, to the point where he is now at the mercy of Yuji and Todo. And, to make matters worse, Sukuna has noticed the ghost of the strongest opponent he has ever had.

Then Sukuna saw a ghost of immense strength… who he buried with his own hands.
Gojo’s return was by far the most talked about thing within theJujutsu Kaisencommunity, and it seems that he may finally be back, which proves to be the worst time he could possibly return for Sukuna. Despite defeating everyone else up till this point, apotential team-up between Yuji, Todo, and Gojocould quite easily be the one to put the King of Curses down for good.

Narratively, this outcome seems to be the case as well. This is because Sukuna represented selfishness and strength in isolation. He became a monster who was far more powerful than everyone else due to his mindset, which showed that he never really needed anyone to grow in strength, as he was content with relying only on himself. What his current opponents symbolize, however, is the exact opposite since Gojo worked his entire life to foster the strength of his allies so they wouldn’t need to rely on him all the time, with Yuji and Todo personifying kinship more than anyone else. The outcome of this battle would see which ideology is superior.
What Will Come Next?
The future of the series seems to be going in a fairly linear direction as of Chapter 260. However, in typicalJujutsu Kaisenfashion,Gege Akutami may just be cooking up a cruel twistthat will tug on the heartstrings of fans once more. While fans just have to wait and see how the series will end, there are a couple of directions that it could go in at this point.
A Happier Ending:
If the figure that appeared at the end of Chapter 260 really was Gojo coming back to the battlefield, there is no possible way for Sukuna to escape. The combined strength of an awakened Yuji with the help of Gojo, Todo, and the remaining fighters would simply be far too much for the King of Curses to deal with. Though unlikely, a happy ending for the fans would see the eventual defeat of Sukuna and the remaining heroes finally resting after a hard-fought victory.
A More Probable Conclusion:
However, if there is one thing that fans have learned, it’s that Gege Akutami doesn’t really care much about fan service. Despite all the damage he has sustained, Sukuna still holds one trump card; the ability to awaken the merger of Tengen with the rest of the population, which was given to him after Kenjaku died. If he truly feels cornered, Sukuna can awaken this terrible Cursed Spirit, giving the heroes another powerful enemy to fight and possibly even providing himself with a means of escaping.
