Summary

EA might be preparing to finally show offSkate 4, officially known simply asSkate, at the upcoming Summer Game Fest Showcase. It’s been well over 10 years sinceSkate 3,which was released in 2010. Since then, fans of skateboarding games have beenclamoring for the nextSkateinstallment, as the genre as a whole sadly fizzled out during the 2010s.

11 years afterSkate 3, in 2021, EA announced it had spun up a new studio named Full Circle to handle development of the brand-newSkate 4. It’s since been confirmed to be free-to-play and will look to lean into a live service-style experience.Skate 4was being playtested as early as 2022, and a portion of its open world map was leaked online just last year. EA and Full Circle have largely kept major details about the game and its world airtight since its announcement, though they’re now beginning to give fans just a bit more.

Skate is Being Teased for Summer Game Fest

While this isn’t a concrete confirmation thatSkate 4will show up on Geoff Keighley’s stage, the fact that the M-Corp takeover of the game’s Twitter account happened just a few days out from the show makes it seem so. Additionally, EA is included onSummer Game Fest’s wall of participating publishersand developers. Since EA isn’t holding its own EA Play event during this year’s Summer Game Fest, it only makes sense that the SGF showcase would be its home to show off its new trailers and announcements.

Skate 4isn’t the only EA game that could potentially show face at Summer Game Fest either. Namely,BioWare’s long-awaitedDragon Age: Dreadwolfis still holding onto its 2024 release window. If EA is indeed still planning to release the massive fantasy RPG this year, it must begin rolling out story and gameplay trailers at some point soon. That said, it’s not unheard of for a big publisher such as EA to show up at a Geoff Keighley event with more than one game to show off, so gamers hoping to seeSkate 4shouldn’t worry about the swirlingDreadwolfrumors.
