A popularWorld of Warcraftfansite in Europe recently decided to call it quits after eleven years of coveringWoWcontent. Like many otherWorld of Warcraftfans leaving the game, this fansite is shutting down due to a lack of passion.

In a recent statement, Patrick (Vanion) from Vanion.eu confirmed that he will no longer be posting newWorld of Warcraftcontent. In the statement, he confirmed that the love for the game is gone and he doesn’t intend to return to regular coverage until there is significant change at Activision Blizzard. This not only concerns the recent lawsuit concerning Activision Blizzard, but the development team behindWorld of Warcraftas well.

According to the recent statement from Vanion, the fansite will remain online because of the information that is already compiled there. The team wishes for the information to remain accessible forWorld of Warcraftfans who are looking for it. Unfortunately for fans of the website, there will likely beno newWorld of Warcraftcontentposted to the popular fansite in the foreseeable future.

Vanion’s statement about leaving World of Warcraft referenced the recent boom in MMORPGs withNew World,Corepunk,Ashes of Creation, andPaliacoming out. The statement didn’t confirm whether or not Vanion would be delving into other MMO content moving forward, but Vanion will still playWorld of Warcrafton the side.

According to Vanion’s statement, theTavern Talkpodcast will remain, butWorld of Warcraftfansmay find it quite critical of the game. Some of the recentTavern Talkshows discussed 5 things that destroyedWoW, whether it it better to stay on Azeroth, and if innovation is still possible. Each of these podcasts chronicled Vanion’s declining interest inWorld of Warcraftand preluded the fansite shutting down.

According to Vanion’s statement, the overall decline inWorld of Warcraft’s design philosophies was after the Legion expansion. After conducting many interviews with developers and community managers atActivision Blizzard, Vanion claims that their faith in the game isn’t improving. This is another of many reasons that Vanion has decided to stop updating theWorld of Warcraftfansite.

The first Vanion post was uploaded on July 1st, 2010 and since then, it has changed a lot. Vanion.eu originally started as Vanions Cataclysm Beta Show, but it grew and evolved to become a successful blog, guide, and news site that covered all thingsWorld of Warcraft. Many Vanion.eu fans have taken to the replies of a recent YouTube video and the recent statement to wish Patrick the best in his future endeavors.
