In recent months, Crystal Dynamics has gone all in on expanding the lineup of alternate costumes that are available inMarvel’s Avengers. Several MCU costumes have come to the game, as have some comic-inspired looks for characters like The Incredible Hulk and Ms. Marvel. For the most part, though, the suits have been tame and look like what one would expect to see in a game calledMarvel’s Avengers.

Outside ofMarvel’s Avengers' Capwolf, any goofiness has been extremely limited - though recently, that changed. Three special summer skins have been released, and their absurdity ensures that they might end up being some of the most popular looks in the game. As such, though these summer skins are undeniably odd, they could start a new trend of over the top cosmetics being released regularly forMarvel’s Avengers.

Explaining Marvel’s Avengers Summer Skins

Marvel’s Avengers’ three summer skinsprovide some memorable looks for Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain America. Each skin sees one of the heroes swapping out their armor or super suit for a casual outfit that they would be seen wearing on the beach, and Crystal Dynamics does not pull any punches with the designs. Though none of them are practical, they are certainly memorable, and it is interesting to see The Avengers celebrating summer.

Thor wears nothing but a pair of shades and some blue swim trunks with a gold accent, showing off his incredibly muscular body. Black Widow’s outfit is similarly revealing, with her arms, legs, and torso exposed. The swimsuit does incorporate her signature belt, though, with the outfit being black as well.Iron Manrounds out the list of costumes, and his conservative attire makes for an obvious change of pace. A few shirts and some gold shorts are nice touches, as is the arc reactor on his chest and some Iron Man-themed sandals. Though the concept is silly, a lot of effort clearly went into designing each of these suits and giving them a distinct personality that matches the heroes who wear them. As such, it could be nice to see some more over-the-top outfits going forward.

Marvel’s Avengers Could Start Delivering Goofy Skins More Often

While they likely won’t sell quite as well as theMCU skins inMarvel’s Avengers, it is easy to imagine these summer skins performing good enough for some similarly absurd costumes to be added. For starters, the rest of the Avengers could get some swimsuits, with Captain America getting red white and blue trunks and Kate Bishop getting a full body swimsuit with the Hawkeye logo. Seeing Hulk dressed for a swim or a day in the sun would be entertaining, too.

Outside of swimsuits, funny costume sets could take on a number of forms. Players could see The Avengers trying to cosplay as each other, which could result in several comedic suits. The Avengers could also dress as their iconic villains, with Thor wearing an outfit that spoofsLokior Captain America wearing red face paint to mimic Red Skull. These would work well as some Halloween cosmetics, though outfits based on other holidays could be equally fun.

If thebunny slipper Hulk skinwas Crystal Dynamics cracking open the door for ridiculous skins, these new summer outfits show the developer kicking said door wide open. Not only could ridiculous comic book outfits continue to be added to the game, but fully original costume lines like these summer skins could be introduced. While weird costumes are not for everyone, the game already offers many serious options, so there is plenty of room to have fun with jokey skins going forward.

Marvel’s Avengersis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
