When it comes to post-launch support, developer Crystal Dynamics has plans to supportMarvel’s Avengersfor years to come with new heroes, missions, and other free content updates to keep players invested for the longterm. Last month, the second ‘War Table’ Livestream offered an in-depth look at theMarvel’s Avengersbeta and confirmed players could expect to see even more heroes throughout the next year excluding Spider-Man, a fifth hero coming exclusively to PlayStation platforms in 2021.

Hawkeye will be the first DLC heroadded toMarvel’s Avengers, arriving at some point before the end of the year with his own set of story missions, abilities, skills, unique costumes, and the new Battle Pass. Ant-Man was also heavily teased when the game was revealed. However, Crystal Dynamics has given no hints about who the remaining  heroes could possibly be. Based on everything that’s been announced and some new details that were in the beta game files, fans do have a few ideas about which heroes could potentially come toMarvel’s Avengersas post-launch DLC.

She-Hulk, War Machine & Kate Bishop

Last weekend, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics held the first of three beta weekends forMarvel’s Avengers, exclusively for PS4 pre-orders before opening up to Xbox and PC. Unsurprisingly, data miners have been able to access the game’s API files and find reference to multiple knownMarvel heroes including She-Hulk, War Machine, and Kate Bishop. War Machine’s name popped up alongside reference to a “Legendary” Emote, while both She-Hulk and Kate Bishop referenced Hero Cards, theMarvel’s Avengersequivalent of a Battle Pass-type unlock system seen in the beta.

While She-Hulk, War Machine, and Kate Bishop might not seem like the most ideal characters to add toMarvel’s Avengersgiven that all three heroes already have an equivalent counterpart in the game, their presence would certainly make a lot of sense as the movies move into thefourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like Kamala Khan, both She-Hulk and Kate Bishop will make their live-action debut on Disney Plus sometime in 2022, and Marvel could be looking at this as a great opportunity to start getting fans familiar with the characters. Not to mention, Crystal Dynamics could easily make a few key gameplay changes to make sure each hero feels unique, and it would go a long way to adding some diversity and representation to the lineup.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

During E3 2019, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics released an additional story trailer alongside the infamous Golden Gate demo that ended with abrief appearance from none other than Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man. Ant-Man will not be one of the six playable characters at launch, but it’s clear from the trailer that he’s involved. The existence of Pym Particles as a damage type in theMarvel’s AvengersBeta hint that a young Hank Pym will play some sort of role throughout the main storyline, prior to any additional post-launch content and expansions.

Hank Pym’s existence inMarvel’s Avengersleaves a lot of room open for Ant-Man to join forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on the field once again and release as a playable character post-launch. And even if Hank Pym wanted to stick to the sidelines like he does in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Crystal Dynamics could easily bring in Scott Lang as the new Ant-Man, perhaps even alongside Hope or Janet van Dyne as the Wasp. These two characters are far too well known at this point not to show up inMarvel’s Avengersafter these teases, and it would be incredibly disappointing if players never got the chance totake on AIM from the size of an Ant(-Man).

Captain Marvel

Entering the second weekend of theMarvel’s Avengersbeta, Crystal Dynamics released a new update earlier in the week that has seemingly revealed two additional characters including Peter Parker a.k.a Spider-Man, a knownPlayStation exclusive hero coming in early 2021, as well as the almighty Captain Marvel. It’s been rumored that Captain Marvel would be released as one of the DLC heroes for a while now or at least make an appearance inMarvel’s Avengersafter a poster in Kamala Khan’s room confirmed she already exists in the universe.

Captain Marvel is referenced in the game files under ‘“Hero Token” which may be referencing the requirements for leveling up a playable characters Hero Card (Battle Pass). Hero Cards are only available for playable heroes in the game andCaptain Marvel is shown alongside known characters like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man, as well as leaked heroes including She-Hulk and Kate Bishop. Right now, all of this should be taken as a grain of salt as none of the leaked details have been confirmed by either Square Enix or Crystal Dynamics. However, given her existence in the game’s lore, Captain Marvel seems like a very safe bet for one of the remaining DLC heroes coming toMarvel’s Avengers.

Marvel has dozens of beloved superheroes under its belt including Black Panther, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men, so there’s no shortage of great characters that would be great to expand the roster. Unfortunately, it’ll be a while before Crystal Dynamics announces the next couple of DLC heroes, so hopefully, more details will be uncovered in future updates. For those players jumping into theMarvel’s Avengersbeta either this weekend or next,Crystal Dynamics has already addressed a number of known issuesan issue where players were unable to find multiplayer sessions and were booted back to the main menu.

Marvel’s Avengersreleases on September 4 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. Next-generation versions are in development for the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
