A bug has been found withinPokemon Scarlet and Violetwhich is allowing players to claim rewards from Tera Raid battles without actually beating the raid. Though players are supposed to team up with others in order to defeat difficult Tera Raids withinPokemon Scarlet and Violet, players have figured out that they are subtly given rewards even if the raid is unsuccessful.Tera Raids are the biggest source of multiplayer gameplay withinPokemon Scarlet and Violet, encouraging players to purchase Nintendo Online and team up with three other players to beat an AI-controlled boss far more difficult than anything typically found within thePokemonfranchise. Successful completions of more difficult raids, such as five and six-star variants, can reward players with several invaluable items, such as newPokemon Scarlet and Violetitem type Herba Mystica. If they are unsuccessful, players are supposed to receive nothing from the raid, though they can retry as many times as they want. However, in recent days many players have noticed that, despite being unsuccessful against difficult five and six-star raids, rewards were still appearing in their inventory as if they had completed them.RELATED:Smogon Bans Two Threats From Pokemon Scarlet and Violet CompetitiveIn order for a player to gain the victory rewards from an unsuccessful raid, players must first find and enter a Tera Raid, though not as the host. Upon losing, the victory items will silently appear in the inventory of all players apart from the host. This allows players who do not knowhow to solo six starPokemon Scarlet and VioletTera Raidsto obtain difficult items, such as Ability Patches and Herba Mystica, without actually beating their required raids. Though this bug is certainly impacting five and six-star raids, it is unclear whether easier raids are also affected. Wolfe Glick, a formerPokemonWorld Champion, compiled a video in which he tested rumors of this glitch, finding that they were not only true but also reproducible.
Before players rush to intentionally lose online Tera Raids inPokemon Scarlet and Violetby bringing low-level Pokemon, it should be known Wolfe also noted on his Twitter that “when you join random lobbies, only the first loss gives rewards,” but that “With a code, you may get the rewards every time.” What this means for players is that intentionally losing random Tera Raid lobbies online will not reliably net them rare rewards and that the bug is only completely reproducible when joining lobbies through a friend’s link code. This unintended feature is yet another glitch ruining Generation 9’s online play, with game-breakingissues also occurring in thePokemon Scarlet and VioletBattle Stadium.
With online play being such a massive part ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet, players can expect this bug to be promptly fixed, especially given that there is aPokemon Scarlet and VioletTerra Charizard Raid eventscheduled to take place throughout December. For the time being, however, it is easily the most effective method to obtain rare items withinPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
