Infinity Ward andCall of Duty:Modern Warfareare celebrating the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday with a gift to players: granting double XP and double weapon XP, which has already begun for all platforms.

Season 1 ofModern Warfareis also on the verge of going live, and along with the special event announcement, Infinity Ward shared a little information about the season’s new level progression systemand other content being introduced. Season 1 starts up on December 3, and Infinity Ward also shared a few perks that players who make use of the double XP event will see when it does.

Infinity Ward broke the news via Activision’s blog. “Season 1 is almost upon us,” it wrote, “and to celebratethe biggest content dropinCall of Dutyhistory, Infinity Ward is turning on Double XP from now until December 2, so you may focus on completing the Officer Progression you’re already undertaking.” Then, Infinity Ward added that “On December 3, your Officer Rank achieved up until the start of Season 1 will be locked and memorialized with all the ribbons and final Officer Rank you have earned.” Players will alsoscore two weapon blueprintsif they gain enough ranks: Hush at Rank 56, and O.G. at Rank 155.

Those who make it into the Officer ranks before December 3 will see some additional changeswhen Season 1 is launched. “At the start of Season 1, those who have made it into the Officer Ranks (Rank 56+) will have their Officer Rank refreshed, beginning a new journey up the Season 1 Officer Progression track (from Rank 56 to 155),” wrote Infinity Ward. “Players will find another 100 ribbons to earn through a new set of challenges, leading up to a new and distinct animated emblem.” Everything else players earn in the next few days will be carried over into Season 1, and players who don’t reach the Officer Ranks by the season’s launch can continue to finish the Enlisted Ranks before moving on.

Hopefully, the double XP event and ensuing season of content go a long way towards keepingModern Warfarefans happy, especially sinceone recent update ruffled a few feathersamong players. With most of those problems fixed and fan-favorite game modes coming in season 1, things are looking up.
