The world ofMy Hero Academiais full of heroes wieldingpowerful quirks. While Uncle Ben might tell everyone that with great power comes great responsibility, in reality, it tends to come with a heaping dose of arrogance too.
This is true for a good handful ofMy Hero Academia’scharacters, even the most heroic among them. For some, it’s pretty much their defining trait; for others, it’s a character flaw that they’re working through. In a setting that gives heroes rankings and encourages students to compete against each other, some arrogance is to be expected. These characters, though, tend to exhibit it the most.
8Mirio Togata (Lemillion)
Confidence Verging On Arrogance
Miro is so dang likable, it’s pretty hard to criticize him. As one ofMy Hero Academi’s most selfless characters,he not only lost his powers saving Midoriya and Eri from Overhaul, he never even complained about it. Instead, he chose to support Midoriya, who was given One-For-All over him, and care for Eri.
But there’s a touch of arrogance in Mirio’s confidence. His first appearance sells Mirio to fans as one of the best students there is, and he knows it. He underestimates Class 1-A during their first encounter, challenging them all at once. However, Mirio isn’t defined by his arrogance. This flaw is outweighed by all of his positive qualities, ranking him at the bottom of this list.
7Seiji Shishikura (Shishikross)
Everyone Else Is Trash
During the Provisional Hero License Exam arc, the students of Class 1-A were forced to clash with students from other superhero schools. As a student of one ofthe best hero schools, Seiki Shishikura has allowed himself to become incredibly arrogant.
He believes that, despite being a student himself, he is the only one who should be able to deem who is worthy of becoming a hero. Throughout the arc, he refers to pretty much everyone else as “trash,” and believes that his gross meatball quirk puts him above everyone else. Despite his evident arrogance, he gets a low ranking because he’s a relatively minor character — and because he’d hate receiving a low ranking.
6Keigo Takami (Hawks)
Casual Arrogance
Hawks doesn’t rub his arrogance in viewers' faces like some other characters on this list. Instead, he’s casually arrogant. His laid-back attitude and confidence in his abilities show that he thinks he’s better than others. He can come across as dismissive, and during the Paranormal Liberation War, his nonchalant attitude towards the threat could come across as arrogance.
Of course, as the Number 2 ranked hero, Hawks has good cause to be a bit arrogant. He is among the best of the best. Season six revealed Hawks' tragic upbringing, from his criminal father to how the Hero Public Safety Commission used him. Through this, audiences learned that part of his arrogance is just a mask he hides behind.
5Shoto Todoroki (Shoto)
Knows He’s Powerful
Shoto Todoroki is a fan-favorite character who has grown a lot over the course of the series. Initially cold and standoffish towards his classmates, he has gradually warmed up to them. In the early seasons, though, Shoto could come across as pretty arrogant.
The son of one of the most famous heroes around, Shoto has one ofMy Hero Academia’s most overpowered quirks. During the UA Sports Festival, he declared he would win using only the ice half of his quirk, essentially fighting with one hand tied behind his back. Shoto’s arrogance led to him failing the Hero License exam, a major turning point in his character arc. Thankfully, he learned from his mistake and has become better at showing humility.
4Neito Monoma (Phantom)
Obsessed With Class 1-A
Neito Monoma comes across as one of the anime’s most arrogant characters. Throughout the Joint Training Arc, he constantly berated and mocked Class 1-A, calling them inferior. His arrogance is so annoying that even his closest friends, like Itsuka Kendo, tell him to shut up.
However, there’s another side to Neito. He might come across as arrogant, but when he’s not around Class 1-A, he can be incredibly compassionate and caring. Rather than truly believing he’s better, Neito is plagued by self-doubt. Self-conscious about the unheroic nature of his quirk, he overcompensates by acting overconfident and belittling others.
3Enji Todoroki (Endeavor)
Competed Against All Might
Although the anime did its best to redeem him during season 6, Endeavor remains one of the most controversial heroes inMy Hero Academia. Although recently humbled, for most of the show, Endeavor was defined by his arrogance and his need to surpass All Might as hero No. 1.
The patriarch of one ofMy Hero Academia’s strongest families, Endeavor’s arrogance cost him everything. He was harsh towards his children, seeing them more as a means to an end than something to love. His harsh training turned Dabi into a psychotic villain and pushed Shoto and the others away, even pushing his wife to the brink.
2Katsuki Bakugo (Dynamight)
An Arrogant Bully
My Hero Academiamight have fumbled Endeavor’s redemption, but it handled Bakugo’s much better. From his first appearance, Bakugo’s arrogance was evident. He looked down on not just his classmates, but actual heroes, believing himself to be superior. In particular, he singled out Midoriya, whom he calls “Deku,” which means useless.
Bakugo’s arrogance leads to him pushing others away, berating everyone else for their perceived weakness. In recent seasons, however, Bakugo has seen some real growth, largely thanks to the help ofhis best friends. Bakugo’s arrogance partially stems from his own self-confidence and fears of being inferior, especially to Midoriya. He’s still arrogant, but he’s less of a jerk about it now.
1All For One
Arrogance Incarnate
All For One is a character defined by his arrogance, no matterwhich form he’s in. With his powerful quirk, he believes himself to be superior to everyone, and his manipulative nature shows how he sees everyone else as pawns in his game. He believes he’s not just better than ordinary humans. With all the quirks he’s absorbed, he believes he’s better than even the most powerful heroes.
His arrogance can be seen during his battles with All Might, during which he shows a condescending attitude, mocking All Might for his declining strength. Even after losing repeatedly, All For One remains arrogant, showing amusement or indifference. He is so sure that he’ll win in the end that, to him, his losses are only temporary inconveniences, not true defeats.
