Summary

Haunted Bloodlines, anew psychological survival horror inspired by Hideo Kojima’s infamousPT,is coming to Steam. Despite serving as a mere snippet of what the since-canceled projectSilent Hillspromised to be,PTremains one of the greatest horror gamesever made. AfterPTwas removed from the PlayStation store, fans were left disgruntled and unfulfilled, butPT’s legacy could continue with a copycat game mimicking the teaser’s addictive and exhilarating mechanics.

Back in 2014, Hideo Kojima collaborated with legendary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro to createa photorealistic playable teaserforSilent Hills, an installment in theSilent Hillfranchise that was ultimately canceled after three years of development. It was set to star Norman Reedus as the protagonist, but Kojima, del Toro and Reedus reunited again forDeath Strandinginstead. Konami’s decision to cancelPTwas met with criticism from journalists and fans, but the reasoning remains a mystery to this day. Now, a decade later, Iphigames is releasing aPTlook-a-like to hopefully revive the simple yet effective gameplay style.

New Developer Horrified Triangles Spearheads Haunted Bloodlines

Earlier this year, Iphigames releasedSkaramazuzu, a hand-drawn, gothic adventure set in an atmospheric shadow puppet world with a visual design akin to the likes ofUndertaleandNight in the Woods.Skaramazuzuhas received positive reviews, despite only being available on Steam for a few months. Iphigames also developedAbtos Covert, another survival horror set in a remote military outpost that blends the creative visions of the immersiveSlender: The Eight Pagesandthe terrifyingFive Nights at Freddy’s, utilizing environmental point-and-click interactions and a security camera setup.

Haunted Bloodlineshas no confirmed release date, but the likelihood is that Horrified Triangles will have the full version available in either late 2024 or early 2025. Although it’s still early days for the developer, a partnership with Iphigames could prove beneficial given the steady flow of positive reviews on the publisher’s other titles. And ifHaunted Bloodlinesproves to be as popular asPT’sspiritual successorSupernormal,Horrified Triangles could be kick-starting a fruitful career.

P.T.

P.T.was a first-person survival horror game. Originally launched as a free game in a new franchise by the indie studio 7780s Studio, finishing the game reveals P.T. stands for Playable Teaser and the game is actually developed by Kojima Productions as a teaser for the then upcoming but eventually cancelled gameSilent Hills. The section was said not to be part of the game. The game starts with the protagonist who wakes up in a dark room. A door leads into an L-shaped hallway with photos and various items. The hallway appears to loop around while a radio broadcast lets the player know a man has murdered his family and later killed himself. Through various loops of the same hallway and a few surrounding rooms, gradually various forms of paranormal activity occur, with sounds, changes in lighting, apparitions and many other types of events. There is no combat system and the focus is entirely on exploration. There are also only puzzles in the sense that certain events can be encountered, as there is no HUD or any direct means to interact with the environment except for movement. After a certain event is triggered based on various conditions, the game ends and a trailer forSilent Hillsis shown. After the game Silent Hills was cancelled, PT was removed from the PlayStation Network on 29 July 2025.
