While accessing the controller configuration menu, Reddit user u/solwhitehorn discoveredTactics Ogre: Rebornfor Switch supports keyboard and mouse just like the PC version. Keyboard shortcuts are displayed in the menu, allowing the player to set two keys for one action. Many of the shortcuts are left empty by default inTactics Ogre Reborn, but a player may plug in a keyboard and mouse to change the shortcuts. The keyboard and mouse may be plugged directly into the Switch dock’s USB ports while the game is running in docked mode to enable the control option. According to u/solwhitehorn, a USB dongle and wireless Dell keyboard and mouse combo worked as intended duringgameplay ofTactics Ogre: Reborn.
Tactics Ogre: Rebornis one of the few titles on Switch that fully supports keyboard and mouse controls. The select few games that natively support the control setup on Switch includeFortnite,Quake, the originalDOOM, andDOOM 2. Nintendo’s ownGame Builder Garagesupports mouse controls to streamline the drag-and-drop process while creating programs.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn’skeyboard and mouse support is useful for players who prefer the control scheme in tactics andstrategy-based games likeCivilization 6andXCOM. Further, the option promotes accessibility since players are able to configure keyboard shortcuts to their liking. The Switch is able to detect the devices through USB and Bluetooth, so more games could support the option in the future.
Alongside the recent launch ofTactics Ogre: Reborn, Square Enix launched action RPGValkyrie Elysiumfor PC. More new Square Enix releases are on the way includingCrisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion,Dragon Quest Treasures, andRomancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered.
