One Piece’sprevious chapter saw Luffy vs Kaido rage on in full throttle as the two went toe to toe against each other in what is being described as the battle to decide all battles on Onigashima. With all the major fights having already ended, it is now up to Luffy to take down the last remaining member of the Beasts Pirates, Kaido himself, and liberate the land of Wano.One Piece1038 will certainly take fans one step closer to seeing that happen.
Apart from the incredibleaction between Luffy and Kaidothat saw the two exchange blows with each other as if they were equals, the chapter also touched on some incredibly important plot points. In the Flower Capital, the citizen of Wano are finally preparing to end the Fire Festival, meaning the arc is drawing to a close. More importantly, the Gorosei initiated a talk about a legendary Devil Fruit that hasn’t been awakened for centuries yet is now active all of a sudden. At the same time, Zunesha is finally makes an appearance and stands in the path of the World Government ships that were on their way to capture Wano. All this could possibly be explored inOne Piecechapter 1038.

What To Expect From One Piece 1038
There are not many things that Oda can focus on now in the story, given that most of the fights have already wrapped up already.One Piece1038 is likely to throw some focus on Luffy vs Kaido. In the previous chapter, Kaido got drunk and actually managed to power up to fight Luffy. Surprisingly, Luffy was not only able to survive his onslaught but also retaliated with a blow for a blow, showing that he is, indeed, an equal to Kaido. If the fight does continue in the next chapter, there is little doubt that it’ll start edging towards its end. It is important to note that Luffy hasn’t tapped into the power of his Gear Fourth yet and asfor Kaido, Devil Fruit awakening remains an option.One Piece1038 could well explore these two possibilities or, at the very least, tease them.
More importantly, as the World Government ships approach Wano, Zunesha stands in their way, which is quite strange to see. Given that Zunesha didn’t strike Jack the Drought without Momonosuke’s order, it is unlikely that he’ll act on his own here, meaning Momonosuke must command the beast to strike down the World Government ships and save the land of Wano from any outside forces. It is important to remember that Zunesha committed a crime in the past and this led to him being forced to walk for eternity. Yet, him playing a part in the defending Wano Country feels almost like fate. It is quite possible that Zunesha was ordered to protect the land of Wanowhen Joy Boy arrives 800 years later, which would definitely make the next chapter much more interesting.

Furthermore, fans could also continueto see the Gorosei talkinOne Piecechapter 1038, just as they did in the previous one. The five talked about a legendary Devil Fruit that had been asleep for ages but has now awakened. If the group was indeed talking to the World Government ships, then the Devil Fruit may be one that Zunesha ate. Given that it is a giant elephant that towers 10,000 meters above the sea, it could well be a Mythical Zoan Elephant Devil Fruit, or more interestingly, a Paramecia Devil Fruit that increases size or turns one into an island.
One Piece 1038: Wano’s Fate Decided?
While all the major events are already playing out, Yamato is approaching the vault where all the explosives are, as Momonosuke is doing his best to prevent Onigashima from crashing into the Flower Capital. These two events will definitely be seen more in the next chapter ofOne Piece. After all, the Fire Festival is just minutes away from wrapping up, meaning, Kaido’s fall isn’t all that far away.
Interestingly, however, Orochi is still alive, with Komurasaki being with him. Wanting to kill him for what he did to his family, it is a great decision by Oda to have her be involved in his ultimate fall in the story. Denjiro, meanwhile, hasn’t appeared in quite a while, and it is possible that he’ll have something to do with Orochi’s downfall as well. Hiyori and Denjiro have a history of working together and out of all the Akazaya Nine, are the closest to Orochi.One Piece1038 could well see his return, and together, the two could finally cut off the last head of Orochi and leave him to die, this time for good.

At the same time, Kazenbo, the fire entity created by Kanjuro, is on its way to burning Onigashima down to its core, and the only person capable of stopping it could well be Marco the Phoenix. In his clash against Big Mom, Marco showed the fans that hisphoenix flames have superiority over regular flames, meaning the Kazenbo if confronted by the phoenix flames, would not stand a chance. Marco and Yamato could end up saving Onigashima from the inside, while Momonosuke tries to avert the tragedy and save it from the outside.
When Will One Piece Chapter 1038 Release?
One PieceChapter 1038 will not be out this week, unfortunately. Eiichiro Oda is known to take breaks after every three chapters and with 1037 having wrapped up, it is finally time for an Oda break. Fans will not see the manga release this Sunday with the rest of the Jump chapters. Instead,One Piecewill make a return in next week’s Shonen Jump issue. According to the MangaPlus app,One Piece1038 is set to release on July 11, 2025.
