Warning: Spoilers for WoW: Dragonflight Patch 10.2.7 side stories below.

World of Warcraftis currently testing Patch 10.2.7, Dark Heart, on the Public Test Realm. One of the new stories found in the first builds of the PTR was called An Uncommon Request, in which players help a Night Elf named Kelestra, who hopes to bury her family together in a barrow den. However, fans quickly learn that Kelestra is none other than the sister of Koroleth, a Primalist leader they defeated during theDragonflightstory.

According toWowhead’s walkthrough and screenshots of the quest, players learn more about Koroleth’s past, recover her remains, and speak with some of her former Primalist allies. Near the conclusion, the character is asked by Malfurion Stormrage what Koroleth’s fate should be. Fans can convince him to allow or refuse Kelestra to bury Koroleth with the rest of her family, the choice of which not only changes the rest of the questline, but also where her grave marker appears in the game world for them.

WoW Patch 10.2.7 Sidequest – An Uncommon Request

Players will remember Koroleth as the main antagonist of theOhn’ahran Plains zone inDragonflight. They encounter her a few times throughout the zone, eventually clashing after rescuing Ohn’ahra and thwarting her plans to invade the Emerald Dream. However, during this new questline, fans learn she was once a Druid of the Talon, and was thought to have been killed trying to save her family after the Burning of Teldrassil, after which she joined the Primalists for revenge on the Horde.

This newDragonflightquestline sets an interesting precedent forWorld of Warcraft. Fans have been able to make choices in the game before, such as siding with certain factions, or for Horde characters on whether they would remainloyal to Sylvanas inWorld of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, but never before has a choice changed the physical game world for them like this, let alone in a way that has such emotional weight. This new mechanic has great potential, so hopefullyWorld of Warcraftcontinues to experiment with it to heighten the narrative impact and player involvement ofThe War Within, The Worldsoul Saga, and beyond.
