Summary

Overwatch 2players can log in this week to enjoy receiving a bucket of free credits to spend as they please. WhileOverwatch 2’s credits aren’t usable to purchase most big ticket items or bundles from the in-game shop, or unlock battle passes like OverwatchCoins can, credits allow players to grab smaller cosmetics like voice lines, victory poses, sprays, and even olderOverwatch 1skins in the Hero Gallery.

WhileSeason 7 ofOverwatch 2won’t introduce a new hero to the roster, it brings a ton of new content for Halloween lovers to enjoy. Headlining the season is a newDiablo-inspired co-op event called Trials of Sanctuary, which sees four players “fighting back the darkness” in Blizzard World. In-line with theDiablocrossover and the larger Halloween theme, this season also introduces aDiablo 4Lilith skin for Moira, an Inarius skin for Pharah, and more available in the in-game shop. Additionally, Season 7 brings a new control map called Samoa, along with long-awaited reworks for Sombra and Roadhog. Of course, the annual fan-favorite Halloween Terror event makes its return toOverwatch 2this month as well.

On top of all this,Overwatch 2is giving away free credits for players to use as they see fit. On Twitter, Overwatch Calvary revealed that players who log intoOverwatch 2before October 17 will receive a whopping 3,000 free credits to use onsome ofOverwatch’s older skinsand other cosmetic items. Overwatch Calvary mentioned that Gilded Hunter Sombra is available to purchase with credits in the Events Shop, as well as Brigitte’s Vampire Hunter skin, Ana’s Ghoul skin, and more.

Overwatch 2dishing out 3,000 credits to all players is a huge deal considering each seasonal premium battle pass offers 2,000 earnable credits per season. In Season 7, all credits earned in the battle pass combined with these free 3,000 credits means players will be able to accrue a whopping 5,000 credits in a single season. The gift is the exact amount needed to purchase Sombra’s coveted Gilded Hunter skin, which is perfect timing for theOverwatchhacker’s highly requested reworkthat’s just gone live.

Overwatch 2is no stranger to giving gifts like this to its community. It did something similar during last year’s Holiday event where it madeBastion’s Gingerbread skinavailable to purchase in the shop for a single OverwatchCoin. It’s a smart move to get waning players back in the door while letting them grab some free cosmetics in time for Halloween. It’ll be interesting to see ifOverwatch 2’s generosity continues as its annual Winter Wonderland event approaches next season.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
