Overwatch 2’s new Seasonal format has been an interesting concept to say the least. Map rotations have been divisive, though it is hard to argue against the steady release of new maps and heroes being healthy for the game. Balancing has been hit or miss, though the battle pass provides good value even if fans wish it came with virtual currency. However, nothing exemplifies the hit or miss nature ofOverwatch 2better than its seasonal themes.
On the positive side of things, the skins included in the themes are terrific, with outfits like Cyber DragonHanzoand Medusa Widowmaker nailing the cyberpunk and Greek aesthetics present in the first two seasons. Unfortunately, players have been disappointed in how the skins are distributed, with the battle pass failing to embrace the theme fully and only including a few skins based on it, with the rest of the items included in the shop. Players continue to push for change, and though Season 2 has a better balance between themed battle pass skins and shop items, the call for adjustments is unlikely to stop anytime soon. Regardless of whether players get their wish, it seems like themed seasons are here to stay, so it is worth pondering what cosmetics would be the most fun to see.

A Superhero Theme For Overwatch 2
A relatively safe option kicks things off, as Blizzard could seek to deliver some superhero cosmetics for its cast of characters. Considering that theOverwatchroster is full of superheroes already, and Bug Hero 76 has gotten the ball rolling, this does not seem far-fetched at all. Though it is unclear if an official DC orMarvelOverwatchcrossoverwill ever happen, some loosely inspired superhero looks would still be fun. It is easy to imagine Tracer dashing around in a Supergirl-like cape similar to her Summer Games skin, or Reaper becoming Red Hood in an official collaboration.
A Back to School Theme For Overwatch 2
ThoughtheOverwatchhero D.Vahas many popular skins, her Academy outfit ranks near the top. Given how popular the design is, it only makes sense to show how other characters looked when they were still in school. Soldier 76 makes sense as a jock, while Cassidy would pull off a good “bad boy” look. Tracer as a nerd seems like a no-brainer, Ashe as the popular girl would also be fitting, and Kiriko being a goth kid seems appropriate. Mercy could even shake things up by dressing like a teacher, giving Blizzard a lot of options. The theme being applied to a Season that begins near the start of a new school year would be particularly fun.
An Alternate Universe Theme For Overwatch 2
ThoughOverwatchhas not embraced the multiverse like the MCU and other franchises, cosmetics could be a fun way to play around with the idea. This way, theOverwatchstorycan remain relatively grounded while still giving players a look at what some alternate universe versions of the cast could look like. Players could see a cheerful and heroic version of Moira, a corrupt variant of Mercy, and a Cassidy that is an Omnic instead of a human. The best thing about these skins is that they could get unique voice lines that suit their new personalities.
Obviously, this is just the tip of the iceberg, and withBlizzard having years’ worth of content planned, players are in store for many themes. An alien-themed Season, a season full of pink and red Valentine’s Day attires - the list goes on and on. Cyberpunk and Greek mythology themes are both interesting and hugely different from each other, suggesting that Blizzard will not be pulling any punches or shying away from ambitous concepts.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
