Summary
There are a tremendous variety of Pals for players to encounter throughoutPalworld’sPalpagos Islands. Each Pal comes with their own unique skill-set, though they can be taught and bred to learn new skills, even from different Element Types. Element Types are a categorization for each Pal, and will determine their strengths, weaknessesandActive Skills.Active Skills are the attacks used by a Pal during combat, and differ from Partner Skills, in that they do not need gear to be crafted to unlock them.
There are a total of nine different Element Types: Water, Ice, Fire, Electric, Dark, Neutral, Grass, Ground and Dragon. TheGround Element Typeis strongest against Electric Types and mostvulnerable to Grass Types. Ground Pals can learn a handful of very potent Active Skills that can make combat a breeze.
8Stone Cannon
Missile Attack Which Fires A Rock At Enemies
Stone Cannonis a relatively basic Active Skill available to many Ground Type Pals. When used, this attack will cause a Pal to dig up and hurl a large boulder from the ground, dealing large amounts of damage to any target it hits.
For many Ground Element Pals, this is a mid-level skill, and it can also be taught to Pals of other Element Types through the use of Fruits, which can be used toupgrade the skillsof the player’s Pals.
7Giga Horn
Causes Warsect To Impale Enemies With Its Large Horns
Giga Hornis a strong Ground Type skill exclusive to the large, beetle-like Warsect. This powerful attack will cause Warsect to charge and skewer enemies with its large mandibles, which can have the effect of temporarily pacifying enemies in addition to causing a lot of damage.
Like many unique Active Skills, these animations and attacks are species-specific and therefore cannot be acquired by other Pals through the use of Fruit Trees. When facing Warsect in combat, there is very little defense against this maneuver other than to dodge as far away from it as possible.
6Sand Tornado
Summons Two Destructive Tornadoes To Attack Enemies
Sand Tornadois one of the more powerful Ground Type Active Skills and is available to a wide range of Pals. When used, this attack generates two tornadoes on either side, which are then launched at enemy targets.
This can be a great skill when outnumbered, but for some weaker Pals it willrequire a lot of levelingbefore they are able to unlock it. Since it is not an exclusive skill, this attack can be learned and passed on to other Pals if Sand Tornado Skill Fruits are acquired.
5Earth Impact
Smashes The Ground Causing Damage To Any Nearby Enemies
Earth Impactis a very strong area-of-effect abilityunique to Mammorest, the mammoth-like Pal with green fur on its back. This attack will cause Mammorest to jump into the air and slam its large body onto the ground, which shakes the surrounding earth and causes damage to any enemies standing on it.
This ability is especially useful when surrounded or facing enemies in a concentrated group at close range. Mammorest can be found in a variety of places throughout the game world. As a unique skill, it will not be possible to teach this to other Pals, even those of the Ground Element type.
4Spinning Roundhouse
A Fast Attack Which Deals Damage In A Circle
This attack is one of several Active Skills unique to Anubis, the Egyptian-inspired Pal, who is one of the strongest Pals in the Ground Element category.Spinning Roundhousewill cause Anubis to use aspinning kick, which will arc around and damage any enemies caught in its radius.
While this skill will not be available until Level 22, it is at these higher levels that Anubis really begins to shine. The attack is ideal for fending off and cutting down groups of smaller enemies, but will likewise be effective against single enemy units.
3Forceful Charge
Forceful Chargeis a strong Ground Active Skill, once again exclusive to Anubis. With this attack, Anubis will pursue enemies with a vastly increased movement speed, all the while releasing energy which causes damage and dishing out powerful punches on opponents within range.
This ability can work equally well against both groups of enemies and bosses alike, and with a relatively short cooldown period, it is a very effective attack for Anubis to use. When facing Anubis, it can bedifficult to defendagainst this attack, at least without some movement speed enhancements to counter the speed bonus of the attack.
2Ground Smash
Strong Area-Of-Effect Skill For Anubis
Ground Smashis another extremely powerful attack exclusive to Anubis. With a relatively short cooldown time, this ability can be used at almost double the rate of some other powerful Active Skills, and will deal damage across a wide area.
When used, Anubis will leap into the air before landing witha large area-of-effect blast, so it is worth watching out for this wind-up and jumping at the right time if facing an Anubis in combat. The skill can be particularly useful when surrounded by large numbers of less powerful enemies.
1Rock Lance
Launches Enemies Into The Air With The Help Of A Large Spike
Rock Lanceis the most powerful Ground Active Skill available to Ground Type Pals. This attack deals huge amounts of damage and creates a rock spike underneath enemies which can launch them into the air.
The ability is available to a range of good Ground Element Pals, and for those that cannot learn the skill naturally, there is a Rock Lance Fruit thatcan provide the skill. This skill can be especially effective against single, strong enemies, but can also work against groups.
