Futaba’s Palace is a unique location inPersona 5 Royalfor a number of reasons. There’s no hint of Tokyo in the surrounding area, Futaba was hurt by corrupt adults rather than being one herself, and she invites the Phantom Thieves to steal her Treasure personally. The Tomb also combines two of the Deadly Sins, Wrath and Sloth, since Madarame’s Vanity isn’t one of the usual seven.

On the other hand, the Tomb of Wrath still has plenty in common with the rest of the Palaces. There are Shadows roaming around for Joker to fight or capture, there are hidden chests and Will Seeds to collect, and there are a series of puzzles players must beat if they want to proceed. The first infiltration is a quick walk up the Great Corridor, so thisPersona 5 Royalwalkthrough will begin with the first real opportunity players get to explore the Palace.

Desert Town

One more thing that sets Futaba’s Palace apart from the others is how much time players have to complete it. The window opens on 7/26 and doesn’t close until 8/20. That’s most of a month rather than a couple of weeks, andit all takes place during summer vacation. What’s more, the Phantom Thieves hand Futaba the calling card on the same day they steal her Treasure, and so players can complete this Palace in only two days.

First, however, they’ll have to figure out how to get past the sealed doors. Players can start this process by entering the Tomb and inspecting the sealed door close up. The pillars to cross the sandpit were destroyed by the giant boulder during the first visit, but there’s still a set of ledges on the left that Joker can cross. There’s nothing the Phantom Thieves can do with the sealed door just yet, but Shadow Futaba will appear when the party tries to leave and ask them to get an object stolen by a banditwho lives in the nearby Desert Town.

Persona 5 Royal Underground Cavern

To reach the town, players should go to the east end of the Entrance area and go up the stairs to the platform. From here, Morgana will turn into a van and drive the party to the town. There are several Shadows patrolling the town, includingSandmanandAnzu.

To encounter the bandit, players should enter the large square area on the west end of town. The bandit will appear, taunt the party, and then run off. He’ll continue to taunt the party and run no matter how stealthy Joker is, but he’ll always run away from Joker. To complete this section, players must approach the bandit from directions that will cause him to run back into the large square. Once that happens, he’ll become aGarudaand attack the party. As a miniboss, Garuda repels Wind attacks and has no weaknesses, so try using status ailments and Technicals instead.

Persona 5 Royal Underground Corridor

When Garuda falls, the Thieves will get the key item Stolen Papyrus. There are no chests or search objects in town, so players should head straight back to the pyramid.

Underground Cavern

When Joker brings the papyrus back to Shadow Futaba, she’ll mention that it’s a map of the Tomb and that the Shadow Thieves can have it. However, a trap floor will then trigger anddump the party into a quicksand pit. It’s a narrow escape, but luckily this also counts as progress.

The Underground Cavern area has the same Shadows as the Desert Town (which no longer has anything worth a revisit), along withthe snake-themedNagaandLamia. Players may also encounter the Palace’s Treasure Demon, theStone of Scone. Its weakness is Fire, but players may need to use two All-Out Attacks to defeat it.

Persona 5 Royal Chamber of Sarcophagi

The layout of the Underground Cavern is somewhat confusing, but it’s important to remember two things: first, Joker can use the sarcophagi to climb up to higher levels, and second, there are a total of four levels in the cavern. Another helpful tip is thatShadows can’t see Joker from across a sand flow.

While climbing out of the pit, there’s a grapple point on the third level that leads to a chest with anInvincible Ofudainside. When players finally reach the part of the fourth level with the door out, there’s a spot close to the climbing point where they can jump down and explore a new part of the third level. A grapple point in this area leads to a chest withDespair Vial S x3inside, and from here players can jump down a few levels to reach the last chest of the cavern and theBeadit contains. The only thing left to do now is exit the Cavern through the door.

Persona 5 Royal Chamber of Rejection

Underground Corridor

This passage reintroduces two special Shadow types. The Guard Dog Shadow for this Palace isThoth, while the red Savage Shadow isAnubis. Thoth is only weak to Psy damage, while Anubis has no weaknesses and can only be captured by using Critical hits or Technicals (assuming the party’s Technical skill is 3 or 4). Curiously, Anubis is level 34 while Thoth is level 36, making Thotheasier to defeat but harder to capture.

There’s a miniboss guarding the way further into the Tomb, but players should ignore it for now and take the side passage to get a chest withSacramental Bread x3inside. Players can also find a staircase that leads up to an exit back to the Palace entrance, so use it to save the game before tackling the miniboss.

Persona 5 Royal Rejection Solution

The miniboss will turn intoMot, a Semitic god of death. Mot’s weakness is Wind, but players should avoid using Gun, Bless, or Curse attacks on him. After climbing the sarcophagi behind Mot, players will enter a large sandpit room with its own sealed door on the far side. There’s a smaller door that leads into a room with a Reflective Panel, but currently the light beam that the panel reflects is pointed at the wall.

To fix this, head down to the ballista and look for a grapple point on a nearby platform. This point will bring Joker up to a button, and the button will fire the ballista and break the wall, allowing the light beam to unseal the door. With that done, players can travel deeper into the Tomb.

Chamber of Sarcophagi

As players enter the Chamber of Sarcophagi, they’ll see a glowing panel with a hint written on it. It sounds obscure, but it’s telling the Phantom Thieves to steal twoAbyss Gemsfrom two Anubis statues located in the area. The first is one level up behind a door, but players should watch out because stealing a gem will cause Shadows to emerge from several sarcophagi.

To reach the second gem, players can exit the Anubis room through a second door and use a grapple point from the balcony. There’s also a less flashy path up to the higher area, but players won’t find much on it. This upper area also leads back to the Great Corridor, and by placing both Abyss Gems in the pedestals the Reflective Panel will flip around and unseal the first door. At this point, players can jump down into the Great Corridor and use the normal entrance as their main entry point for the rest of the Palace.

Persona 5 Royal Guilt Solution

Chamber of Rejection

Head up the stairs to the next sealed door to find the first proper safe room of the Tomb along with the door to the Chamber of Rejection. This area holds two new Shadows:IsisandAndras.

Shadow Futaba will ask the Thieves to follow her by turning right, but there’s a spear trap in the floor that prevents Joker from moving forward. Fortunately, Joker is fast on his feet and will take no damage (nor increase the Security Level) by running into these traps. However, for now the trap means there’s only one way to go.

Persona 5 Royal Chamber of Sanctuary

The next room is a sandpit with a spiraling path up. There’s an Anubis statue with aRejection Gemin his hand at the top of the spiral, but taking it will activate an arrow trap in the corridor behind the statue. Players can put the gem back to deactivate the trap, and while it’s off they should go past the trap and hit the button. This will deactivate the spear trap back at the chamber’s entrance. Now players can grab the Rejection Gem and head back to the entrance themselves.

With the spear trap deactivated, players can enter the next room and collect theIdaten Ofudain the chest. There’s also a set of sarcophagi to climb on the east side of the room, but a massive wall blocks the way forward. Instead, take the path on the other side to reach another spiraling sandpit room. The area at the top has a chest with aBalm of Life, a button, a second Anubis statue guarded by a spear trap, and a second button guarded by an arrow trap.

Persona 5 Royal Chamber of Sanctuary 2

First, players must push the reachable button to unseal a door in the spiral room. This provides a secondary path to the Anubis statue, and players can give it the Rejection Gem to deactivate both traps in the area. This means they can now press the second button, and this will fire a ballista bolt that shatters the wall back in the earlier room so that both players and a light beam can continue forward. Players can reclaim the Rejection Gem on their way out, but there’s nowhere else to use it.

By following the light beam, players will end up back in the Great Corridor. But before then, be sure to check the side room for a locked chest containing aMut Cutlassfor Morganaand theRed Wrath Seed.

Back in the Great Corridor, players now have to solve a moving-block puzzle if they want to flip the Reflective Panel and unseal the next door. The puzzle isn’t too hard since players can swap any block with any adjacent block, and the solution should look like this:

With that completed, players will hear a few voices from Futaba’s pastand the way forward will open.

Chamber of Guilt

Like before, there’s a new safe room across from the entrance to the Chamber of Guilt, and there’s a new hint by the door.Shadow Futaba will encourage the Thieves to follow her, but a giant boulder will force them to retreat.

Fortunately, there’s a crawlspace on the other side of the boulder corridor that Joker can enter without triggering the trap. This leads to a large room full of sarcophagi and a chest with aHomunculus. There’s a button on the upper path along the edge of the room that doesn’t work, and there’s a red door that won’t open. To continue, Joker needs to kick down a wooden board to create a path to a door that does work, and behind it is a stone slab.

Interact with the slab to get the codeB01010, and check back in the main room to see a bunch of orbs light up over one row of sarcophagi. The B stands for “Blue,” and it indicates the direction players should read the numbers in. Since 0 also means “off” in computer terms, players mustturn off the first, third, and fifth orbsto solve this puzzle. With this done, the nearby button will work and fill the corridor with boulders.

Players can now climb on top of the boulders and use them to move forward, but before then they should turn left and jump across the boulders to a small ledge. There’s another stone slab here, and activating it will provide the codeB10011andR01100. Now both rows of sarcophagi have glowing orbs above them, and it seems the R stands for “Red.” Once again, the two letters indicate the direction to read the numbers in, so players shouldturn off the second and third B orbs but the first, second, and fifth R orbs.

If players have repeated the code correctly, the button will work again and unseal the red door. Behind it is an area with a chest holding aBead Chainand theGreen Wrath Seed.

With all that collected, head back to the boulders and jump to the far side of the corridor. There are no walls to break this time, so head through the door and solve the puzzle. This one is more complicated than the first because players must now also rotate some of the pieces, and the pieces all rotate in pairs. This is what it should look like when it’s done:

Players will heara new bit of Futaba’s story, and the next door will unseal. Simply hop down to the staircase below to continue.

Chamber of Sanctuary

The Chamber of Sanctuary is much bigger than the last two chambers, but it also starts with a new safe room across from the entrance. For now, check the side platforms for search objects and then proceed straight forward to the door on the far side of the room.

The passage will end next to a giant hole, and the door out of this area is filled in with sand. However, there’s another crawlspace on the west wall that will get players moving forward. The next area has several hallways leading in different directions, and at the center is a chest guarded by a spear trap. The button that disables this trap is in the room at the south end of this area, and this will let players collect aBlack Robe.

Head to the northwest corner of the area to climb some sarcophagi and hit a button to fire a ballista and break a wall that will let a light beam reach a new area. Then head back down and enter another crawlspace by the sarcophagi to reach a new chamber with a safe room on the left. This chamber also has a suspicious sarcophagus that glows blow in Third Eye mode, but Joker can’t interact with it yet.

Instead, players should take the north exit to enter a room on the west side of the giant hole, then take the north door again to find another blue sarcophagus. Joker can interact with this one, and when it opens it reveals a button he can push. Doing so will open the first blue sarcophagus and reveal a second button, and pressing this one will open a door to a secret room with an Anubis statue holding aSanctuary Gem. Be careful about grabbing it, because new Shadows will start to spawn in the area after Joker takes it.

At this point, players can open the remaining door and follow the path to a pedestal the Gem can go in. Doing this will create a set of light platforms that cross the giant hole and let players check out the door to the east.

Inner Sanctuary

The chamber just past the door holds a locked chest, and inside it is aRobe of Hatred. On the far side is a second safe room, and players should use it because the next miniboss fight can be difficult.

Shadow Futaba will speak with the Thieves for a moment, and after that, the party will have to deal withMot,Lamia, andNagaall at once. Thankfully, none of their weaknesses have changed, so defeat the snake Shadows first and then keep Mot busy with status ailments.

After the fight, turn left to find a sarcophagus with a climb point. Above it is an Anubis statue holding a newSanctuary Gem. Players should now climb up the giant sarcophagus to reach a new area, jump across the light platforms, and put the gem in a pedestal to create new light bridges in both this room and the first giant hole chamber.

The new light platforms lead back to the first part of the Chamber of Sanctuary, but first be sure to open the treasure chest and grab theBlack Rockinside. In the next room, the party will be jumping across the heads of the statues instead of running around their feet. A grapple point will take players up to a floating platform, and the next one over has a locked chest that holds aHelper Knife. Another grapple point leads to the far side of the room, and from here players can walk along a ledge to reach a chest with aBalm of Life.

Before leaving, jump back across the statue heads and kick down a wooden board to create a shortcut. This also activates another grapple point, which leads up to the last Will Seed. The guardian isAlilat, and while she’s weak to Fire she can repel Physical and Gun damage, drain Ice, and null Psy. Beating her will let the party collect theBlue Wrath Seedand thus theCrystal of Wrath, which grants the holder a free accuracy/evasion buff at the start of each combat.Jose can upgrade the crystalto theRing of Wrath, which adds an active skill that clears all non-special ailments from the party.

Head back to the big door to face the last moving block puzzle in the Palace. This one is tricky since each block can be moved and rotated separately, but the borders on the top and bottom are big hints for where the first pieces should go. This is how it looks when it’s solved:

With that done, the path to the Treasure isn’t completely cleared, but it’s close enough for the Phantom Thieves to call it a day andgive Futaba their calling card. On the way out, Caroline and Justine will explain the new Gallows function: Joker can now sacrifice one Persona to give a second one extra experience and some of its skills.

Chamber of Emptiness

This part of the Palace can only be accessed on the day of the Treasure run. It’s not as big as other chambers, but it is full of Shadows and searchable objects.

Players get an opportunity to skip almost the entire chamber by finding the right spot. After climbing a few flights of stairs, players can go either left or right. Go right, and then head to the left side of the new platform to find a grapple point. Joker will use this to swing all the way to the final door, and the boss battle is on the other side. However, players who want to grab everything should jump down from the grapple platform and climb the stairs straight ahead to open a chest and collect aSnuff Soul.
