Summary

An impassionedPokemonfan has drawn up a concept for a Flying-type Regi Pokemon. Drawingconcept art for non-existent Pokemon typesis nothing new for fans, but it’s always intriguing to see what they come up with.

Regi Pokemon are a concept introduced in the third generation ofPokemongames,Ruby and Sapphire. A total of six species exist as of Generation 9, each of a different Type. They are very tough for players to defeat and capture and extremely hard to find, usually confined to very specific regions after meeting strict requirements. The Regis are distinct from most other Pokemon thanks to their bulky, Golem-like design, their faces that are made up of only seven tiny bioluminescent eyes, and their throaty, robotic voice and language.

Reddit user WikiRando posted a piece of fan art depicting a Regi Flying-Type Pokemon, which has yet to exist in any official capacity. Compared to other Regi species, this one boasts a more rounded, compact design with white skin and what one commenter assumed was a tri-fold mouth. It only has six orange eyes as opposed to the usual seven, but it also has short legs that end with bird-like feet, and translucent wings with a similar color palette to Ho-Oh’s feathers. It isn’t the first timefanart has been made of a Regi-type Pokemon, but this design is nonetheless highly impressive and could pass for an official one.

Many Redditors in the comments appeared to be very impressed by the artwork. Several noted how authentic it looked when compared to the usualPokemonart style, despite the otherworldly and somewhat creepy appearance. It’s certainly not the first timefan art has gone in a more eerie direction. Most offered suggestions as to what this hypothetical new Pokemon’s name might be, with most guesses adding a synonym for flight onto the mandatory prefix of “Regi.” One commenter noted that one of the usual seven eyes was missing, although one reply suggested that the tri-fold mouth might contain the seventh eye.

Seeing fans come up with their own concepts for their favorite gaming franchises is always a joyous thing. It only highlights their passion for the brand, whether it be fan fiction, fan-made remixes of game OSTs, or even fan art, whichthePokemonfandom is far from a stranger to. With thePokemonfranchise showing no signs of slowing down, it should be interesting to see if any new Regi Pokemon are introduced later on, perhaps even a Flying-Type.
