Summary

One talentedPokemonfan has fused Mega Scizor with Mega Garchomp for an epic digital art creation. ForPokemonfan artists, combining two creatures is a fairly common practice. Like artists who change the types of certain pocket monsters or create new evolutions, these fans are showcasing familiar characters in unfamiliar ways. This subgenre of fan art is fun for the artistically inclined as well as fans who simply want to admire unique designs based on the property they love. Observers familiar with the original designs get a glimpse into the creative process while artists get to show off their amazing skills.

InPokemon’s sixth generation, the franchise introduced Mega evolutions. Unlike standard evolutions inPokemon, which are permanent, Mega evolutions only last the length of a single battle. Additionally, this transformation requires a Mega stone and an evolution item corresponding to the specific Pokemon. Because only a select group of pocket monsters received this exclusive evolution, fan artists often like to imagine what creatures who didn’t would look like as a Mega Pokemon. This has led to some epic creations, like onePokemonfan who designed Mega evolutions for Gen 2 starters.

Reddit user CaligoMilites has taken a different approach and fused two existing Mega Pokemon: Mega Scizor and Mega Garchomp. The artist shared their stunning results with the community, calling the new creature Mega Scizchomp. Mega Scizchomp combines the head of Mega Scizor with the color scheme, claws, and tail of Mega Garchomp. Additionally, the fan-created pocket monster gains a Garchomp-like head as its left hand.

Not only did CaligoMilites design the new creature, but the artist also wrote up a detailed Pokedex entry for the fan-created pocket monster. According to the artist, the origins of Mega Scizchomp are unknown. However, the Pokemon can move at “lightning speed” both in the air and water. With its shark-like tail, Mega Scizchomp looks almost like thefan artist turned Garchomp into a Water-type Pokemon. In addition to the detailed Pokedex entry, CaligoMilites also designed a shiny variant for Mega Scizchomp.

CaligoMilites has been fairly active in thePokemonfan art community, recentlyfusing Charizard and Alolan Marowak. This continues the artist’s trend of fusions, as the fan has also combined Sceptile and Darkrai, Umbreon and Espeon, and Onix and Gyarados, in addition to many other combinations in recent memory.

While this is a fun genre within the fan art community, many feel thatPokemon fusions could be a logical next step for Gen 10. In the meantime, however, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company remain focused onPokemon Scarlet and Violet, as even more content is on the way in January. Not to mention, it’s only a matter of time beforePokemonshows off its next set of titles, as the series has more or less become an annualized franchise at this point.
