Pokemon GOreleased way back in 2016, but fans of the mobile AR game continue to discover hidden details. One fan recently shared his take on a hidden background detail inPokemon GOthat seemingly referencesStar Wars.
APokemon GOfan known on Reddit as Snoochie_Bootchies recently posted their take on a subtle background detail. The background detail in question is during a Pokemon encounter and it’s an apparent reference to the AT-AT vehicle inStar Wars. A cluster of what looks like bare trees growing from a flower bush is next to a large shrub in the background and they’re positioned in a way that resembles AT-ATs.

The initial image fromPokemon GOthat Snoochie_Bootchies has a ghostly figure of what could be an AT-AT, but the Redditor also included an edit. This edit next to the original showed what an actual AT-AT would look like in the background of aPokemon encounter inPokemon GO. After including the actual likeness of an AT-AT, it’s easy to see where Snoochie_Bootchies is coming from.
The colors used in thePokemon GObackground art build out the rest of the AT-AT from the bare trees that Snoochie_Bootchies' screenshot focuses on. The way the colors are used towards the top of these trees makes them resemble the AT-AT as most of the background and nearby trees are green.
Fans ofPokemon GOwho wish to see this subtle background art detail will have to disable the AR functionality in the mobile game. This will allow Pokemon to enter a static background when encountered rather than the surrounding real-world area. The hidden detail may be hard to spot at first, but ifPokemon GOfans squint, they may see the small AT-AT just beneath the camera symbol.
This new perspective onPokemon GOencountersmay make the mobile game more appealing toStar Warsfans who happen to also like Pokemon. Fans ofStar Warsjoined the comments of Snoochie_Bootchies' post to make jokes about a wild AT-AT appearing and using maximum firepower that winds up being super effective.
After seeing Snoochie_Bootchies' Reddit post, manyPokemon GOfans can’t unsee the AT-AT in the background of Pokemon encounters. One fan speculated what kind of Pokemon an AT-AT would be, calling it apure Steel-type Pokemonwith high special defense and special attack. Although fans of bothPokemon GOandStar Warsmay wish that this was a Pokemon that could be captured in the mobile game, they can enjoy the subtle background detail anytime they play it.
