Pokemon Legends: Arceusbrings players to a bygone era of the Sinnoh region’s history and asks players to capture Pokemon. While there are Pokemon that can be captured without a battle, the alpha Pokemon inPokemon Legends: Arceusalways require a fight. When taking on one of these alphas, one player noticed something was missing from the design of the alpha Zubat: glowing red eyes.

Pokemon Legends: Arceuswas released this year and, despite making some changes tothe usualPokemonseries formula, preserves the core gameplay of past entries. An alpha Pokemon is a larger-than-normal individual that appears in Hisui. These Pokemon have increased combat capabilities and can usually be identified by a special icon and glowing red eyes.

In an image, u/holyhood shows a typical encounter screen fromPokemon Legends: Arceusin which the Action Order is listed, detailing when their Pokemon will be up for attack and when it will be this wild Zubat’s turn. Everything appears normal except this alpha Zubat doesn’t have the glowing red eyes that all alpha Pokemon are supposed to have.

Next to the Zubat’s name there is the normal alpha indicator symbol, but that usual physical sign isn’t there. What u/holyhood points out here must have been a conversation the developers had because Zubat doesn’t normally have eyes. Because of their lack of eyes, alpha Zubats can’t have these red eyes.

U/holyhood makes a great observation here about one of the things that can makehunting down alpha Pokemon inPokemon Legends: Arceusa bit tricky. In this particular case, the original design of Zubat makes it impossible for the developers ofPokemon Legends: Arceusto add in one of the easy-to-identify features of alpha Pokemon.

Alpha Pokemon add an interesting dynamic to the game even though moments like this can arise. There are fixed and random alpha Pokemon in the game and these Pokemon can be foundall over Hisui inPokemon Legends: Arceuswhich adds to the interesting nature of this mechanic. Giving players harder Pokemon to catch helps add needed diversity to the gameplay loop.

Then again, these encounters can be a bit frustrating for some players as these Pokemon have improved stats as compared to the regular iterations of these creatures. Because of this, alpha Pokemon can make the journey towardcatching all Pokemon inPokemon Legends: Arceusmuch more difficult. Either way, this player pointed out an interesting feature of the alpha Zubat inPokemon Legends: Arceus.
