When Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly wereintroduced as the Gen 9 starter Pokemonback in February of 2022, fans of the long-running franchise had mixed feelings. Some felt that they were a little too similar to existing Pokemon, while others thought that their designs were far too bland. Thankfully, “bland” is not really a word that could be used to describe the final starter evolutions inPokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Sprigatito’s Evolutions in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Sprigatito evolves into Floragato at level 16, which seesthe once-cute cat Pokemonstanding up on its hind legs and adopting a more aggressive facial expression that’s a little reminiscent of Zangoose.

Floragato evolves into Meowscarada at level 36, growing taller in the process and gaining a little more flair in terms of the way that the green coloring spreads out across its body like an elaborate masquerade cape and mask.

Fuecoco’s Evolutions in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Fuecoco evolves into Crocalor at level 16, with the main visual differences being the markings on its face and the glowing mass of fire energy on its head, which seems to be a nod tothe Gen 9 games' implementation of Terastallizing.

Crocalor evolves into Skeledirge at level 36and becomes a lot more intimidating in the process. It grows much bigger in size, with its body getting longer to more closely resemble some sort of cyborg crocodile with flames coming out of its mouth.

Quaxly’s Evolutions in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Quaxly evolves into Quaxwell at level 16,losing its signature hairstyle in the process. This is replaced by longer and darker hair that is slicked back to highlight the Pokemon’s impressive new eyebrows. Further down, the Pokemon’s palmates are replaced by more human-like feet and legs, which makes it stand much taller than its first form does.

Quaxwell evolves into Quaquaval at level 36, with shades of red beginning to creep into its predominantly blue design when it does so. These can mainly be found in the Pokemon’s eyebrows and feet, which have now reverted to a more avian-looking style. As with Meowscarada, Quaquaval’s design has something of a masquerade feel to it.
