AnAlien: Isolationmodder has gone the extra mile in making the already terrifying game ever more intense by adding five times as many Xenomorphs to the Sevastopol. They’ve also implemented some other things for that added dose of difficulty. As anear-perfect horror game to play this Halloween, Creative Assembly’s 2014 survival title showed the gaming world it was possible to bring the intense atmosphere of Ridley Scott’s iconic 1979 sci-fi film to the digital realm and to make it just as scary as the source material.
Withphoto-realistic visuals on par withP.T., and an environment lovingly crafted to really pull players into the retrofuturism universe, it resulted in one of the scariest video games of all time. What made it such a tense experience was the way in which the alien creature did not follow a set path, but instead was given learning capabilities. This meant the creature was unpredictable as well as deadly. Making it impossible to kill, and giving it vents to crawl through, meant gamers had no choice but to creep and hide around the space station, unsure of when the enemy would strike.

If that sounds hard enough as it is, get ready for five times the terror. As reported by PCGamesN, user Vyr0511 has created a mod forAlien: Isolationthat adds five Xenomorphs to the game. Simply called “AlienS Isolation,” players will not only take on more of the titular animals, which all have improved AI and faster reactions times, but will also go up against the Working Joe robots, which can now run. Looking at the list of what’s in store in this “true nightmare” mode really paints a picture of the intensity that awaits. A note on the mod page even says that this setting can actually be frustrating, with playthroughs relying on a lot of luck.
This is also not the first time someone has decided to turn the difficulty up to 11. AnotherAlien: Isolationmod increases the Xenomorph’s sensitivity, but it does also give the player some advantages, such as making the flamethrower using fuel at a decreased rate. This particular modification, made by a user called Jeff Cat, is mainly intended for speedrunners, whereas Vyr0511’s is for those more sadistic players who really want a challenge.
Sadly, the world has yet to see anAlien: Isolation 2, which is a shame as no otherAliengame has come to close to what Creative Assembly released eight years ago. Whether a sequel will ever emerge is pure speculation at this point, but hopefully the studio will return to this much loved, and feared, horror game.
Alien: Isolationis available now for Mobile, PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
