Many fans have now played theResident Evil 4 Remake’Chainsaw Demo', which features a plethora of changes and new secrets compared to the original release. The original left many players overwhelmed as its ‘Village’ encounter lifted the lid as to what each player should expect later down the line within their playthrough, and developers have doubled down on this.

Leon vs Ganados

While it is yet to be clarified whether some of the changes and additions made will be permanent to the game in its full release, it is enough to suggest thatCapcomhas adhered to its idea of reimagining the beloved title. As fans anticipate the full experience that is on the horizon, many will be keeping an eye on features within both the demo and the full game to compare which features will remain or what may be changed.

5More Ganados

2005’sResident Evil 4provided players with an incrediblesurvival horror experienceleaving many on the edge of their seats, especially with its opening segment. The transition from Leon’s first contact with a stranger to entering the main area and being greeted aggressively by a horde of enemies was one of the aspects to behold at the time. As it is expected for some of the remake’s content to either be cut or replaced, many still wonder what is ahead, but Capcom certainly did not rest on their laurels on this occasion, as the onslaught is far more intense and terrifying.

Not only are there more Ganados to deal with this time around, but they move much quicker, have a greater range in their attacks and attempts to grab Leon, and contain cutscene executions of their own, unlike the original. This fully adheres to the survival horror genre and the feeling Capcom is trying to capture to the greatest possibility, as players will very easily be met with a lot of death screens if not precise and careful with attacks and maneuvers.

4Secret Tunnel

Those who have played the ‘Chainsaw Demo’ will know of the added tunnel section of the village, which holds a secret of its own, allowing players to equip theTMP weapon; this is completely different compared to the original. While players will have to wait and see whether the TMP will be available to find in the same location rather than having to purchase it from the merchant in the full game, this suggests other locations withinResident Evil 4’s village section could feature new areas and shortcuts unlike before.

This location can be used to players' advantage, especially when attempting the demo’s ‘Mad Chainsaw’ difficulty mode, as it is another location that can be entered when running away from enemies or making space. If this new location is anything to go by in terms of its dark and isolated feel, this gives further insight into what other similar locations could contain.

3Ability To Sneak Past Enemies

Considering the major addition ofstealth in the remake, players can now take down a few Ganados silently without alerting others within the village center, but this is only possible up to a certain degree. For the areas such as the next door players will take in the aftermath of the village onslaught, the window into one of the small cabins, or the way into the main cabin with the shotgun, enemies will be stood nearby to stop players from fully utilizing stealth throughout the opening encounter.

This may be an answer to the question many fans had regarding stealth and how far it will be implemented within each chapter. Based on this, if the rest, or at the very least majority of the game, maintains this while allowing some areas to be cleared in complete stealth in light of players' decisions, it would definitely be beneficial. This is due to the idea of survival horror and forcing players to confront fears and enemies to scrape through.

2Police Officer Execution

In the original game, upon entering the village for the first time, Leon does not witness the execution of his escort police officers but rather sees the aftermath of what he had been subjected to at the hands of the Ganados. This time around, once players approach the telescope prompt, it is possible to see the Ganados put an end to one of the escorts, with the most horrifying and painful screams followed up by it.

Given the drastic difference in tone compared to the original, this gives fans more of an insight into the aspect of what to expect, and it appears as though Capcom is attempting to highlight the deadly and brutal nature of theLas Plagasand what it has done to the once innocent villagers should the lore remain consistent with what most are familiar with.

1Bell Signal Cutscene

While Capcom has kept the transition to the game’s title card intact, including the classic and well-known ‘bingo’ line from Leon, the manner in which this happens is completely different. In the midst of gameplay and players fending off enemies, the church bell rings, which stops all the Ganados, including Dr. Salvador, from attacking and showcases a confused Leon while they head for the church.

This could be aligned with all the cutscenes and sequences later down the line in the game, which suggests gameplay mixed in with cutscenes, replacing the cutscenes that contained quick-time cutscenes in the original.
