After all, many gamers have only played the sequel, so ifHelldivers 2wants to expand its lore, bringing back the Illuminate would be the perfect way to do so in a way that would keep the gameplay loop fresh with the faction’s blend of melee and ranged combat seen in the previous game.
According totrustworthy leaker IronS1ghts on Reddit, another model from the rumored upcoming Illuminate faction has now leaked via the game’s files. AnotherpreviousHelldivers 2leakgave players their first look at an Illuminate enemy, although this appears to be a new model entirely. This leak shows the enemy holding a “LightSpear” staff, which according to IronS1ghts, can be used in both melee and ranged combat, “firing a beam of light if needed.” Considering the Automatons are more ranged-based and Terminids are more melee-focused, this combination of the two for the Illuminate makes a ton of sense.

Interestingly, this time around, the model appears a lot more detailed than the previous set of Illuminate leaks. This could mean that the Illuminate faction is now a lot closer to release than it was previously, which would represent an exciting shake-up to theHelldivers 2gameplay formula. TheAutomatons and Terminids ofHelldivers 2are still lots of fun to fight, but change is definitely welcome in this regard. As with anyHelldivers 2leak, it should be noted that the Illuminate’s existence is yet to be officially confirmed, so the plans that appear to be in the works could still change in the future.
