Nothing is safe inRust. There is no forest secluded enough, no base wall thick enough to keep greedy raiders from stealing everything one wishes to protect. It is not a matter of if one will be raided, it is when. In a world so cutthroat, the only option is to become just as vicious.

Rusthas dominated the hardcore survival genre thanks to its compulsively enjoyable raids. Enemies build walls, turrets, and reinforced doors in the hopes of keeping their loot safe, only for a player to come along and blast it all to pieces. Rockets are the supreme tool of destruction, allowing even the strongest clan bases to be dismantled in no time. Here’s everything that players need to know about crafting these weapons of war.

The weapon that popularized the term “Rocket Raid,” Rockets are the most basic of the three rocket variants and easily the most popular. The splash damage from a rocket will kill nearby players in a single hit, even if they’re wearingthe best armor, but rockets aren’t typically deployed in conventional combat despite their incredible lethality.

An immersive crafting gamelikeRustwouldn’t be complete without a couple of different ways to achieve one’s goals, so rockets can also be built from scratch if the player doesn’t have the necessary upper-level materials on hand Doing so requires2 Metal Pipes, 100 Metal Fragments, 30 Low Grade Fuel, 1,400 Sulfur, and 1,950 Charcoal.Crafting Rockets and a Rocket Launcher requires blueprints provided by theTier 3 Workbench,so the player will need to invest some time (not to mention1,000 Metal Fragments, 100 High Quality Metal, and 1,250 Scrap) to upgrade.

High Velocity Rockets require fewer materials than standard Rockets, so players trying tomake a fast start after wipemay find them easier to produce. In addition, High Velocity Rockets are faster moving and more accurate than the conventional variety.

The downside?HV Rockets do significantly less damage than standard rockets, making them the subpar choice forraiding enemy bases, especially large and complex ones. Raids are fast and violent as it is, so anything that drags them out and gives the enemy more opportunities to make a comeback is a problem, which is why most players prefer standard Rockets.

Incendiary Rockets offer a unique alternative to Rockets and HV Rockets. They deal far less damage than even HV Rockets, and stone, sheet metal, and armored walls are unaffected by them, making them completely unfit for raiding these sturdy bases.
True to their name, however, Incendiary Rockets can set wooden structures ablaze, and though they cannot destroy armored walls, they sometimes start fires on the opposite side of such walls after contact, making them useful for flushing enemies out of hiding. Incendiary Rockets are mostly specialist items, used to accomplish an isolated objective while raiding, such as destroying turrets before switching to standard Rockets for the rest of the raid. Varied strategies like this are one reason players havekept playing this survival game for so long, after all.
