Sifuis due to arrive next year on Xbox and Steam alongside an Arenas mode that was announced earlier this year. Post-launch support forSifuis showing no indication of slowing down, having received new difficulty options, gameplay modifiers, and cosmetic skins.

The indie beat ‘em up title from developer Sloclap was released exclusively on PlayStation consoles and PC via the Epic Games Store in February 2022, quickly capturing the attention of gamers with its satisfying melee combat and compelling art direction.Sifu’s polish and excellent style saw it nominated at the most recent Game Awards for Best Action Game, Best Independent Game, and Best Fighting Game - despite not even being a fighting game. Although it came away from the night empty-handed,Sifuis considered Game of the Year by many who praise not only its launch but the consistent updates that have been released since. A free content roadmap was released much earlier this yearwhich detailed a new mode titled Arenas that would comeas part of a Winter update, and a trailer dedicated to the feature is out now.

A video uploaded to Sloclap’s YouTube channel offers the first look at the awaited Arenas mode and concludes by announcing it will be playable on both Xbox and Steam, meaningSifu’s exclusivity period has come to a close. The trailer itself is absent of any specific details but presents a montage of what players can expect. Information in the video’s description details that completing arenas will “progressively unlock a massive new modifiers batch,” and “brings alternative moves” to further flesh out the “Kung Fu palette.” Cheats and exclusive cosmetics will also be available for players to earn by working through the new mode.

The modifiers will allegedly doubleSifu’s current amount and introduce a variety of ways for players to alter the experience however they please.Free updates since launch have introduced some of these gameplay modifiers, as well as a revamped scoring system that aimed to better reflect the performance of players and outfits for the playable character. Xbox and Steam users will be as overjoyed as those on Nintendo Switch were last month to learn that they will soon be able to play throughSifuand all its added content next year.

Despite the debacle that ensuedfollowingSifu’s nomination for Best Fighting Game, it received a Fall Update the same day as Geoff Keighley’s award show. The cosmetic wardrobe was developed further, a few new gameplay modifiers were added, and an in-depth Replay Editor allowed for even more cinematic displays of martial art prowess. It will be interesting to see how the Arenas mode modifier awards aim to shake up combat, given that those introduced so far have significantly benefitedSifu’s replay value.

Sifuis available now for PC via the Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, and Switch, and will come to Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2023.
