Despite his fearsome reputation in the world of CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed series, a new clip shows thatThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s titular Witcher Geralt of Rivia gets no respect from the creatures of the Continent. Fans of the franchise have been waiting years for news of the future ofTheWitcherfranchise, and recent reports suggest thatThe Witcher 4may be CD Projekt Red’s next gamefollowing the release of thePhantom LibertyDLC forCyberpunk 2077.
Most players exploring the mysterious land of the Continent in CD Projekt Red’s hit game are likely to spend the bulk of their time focusing onThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s magical creatures, but the game is also populated by all manner of decidedly more mundane animals. From dogs and cats to pigs and chickens, many of the fauna that inhabit Geralt’s fantasy world are immediately recognizable since they look the same as animals in real life. While encounters with these everyday animals in the game are usually limited to noticing them milling about in the background, or occasionally striking one down to take their meat for a quick burst of health, a hilarious new clip shows that not every animal in the game is such a pushover.

A new clip posted to the r/Witcher3 subreddit shows that, even with all his strength, there are still some creatures inThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntthat can push Geralt of Rivia around. In the short clip which can be viewedhere, Geralt is seen standing around minding his own business as several chickens scurry past, rudely pushing the Witcher out of their path as they continue on their way. Likely the result of a pathing problem with the animals in the CD Projekt Red action-RPG, the footage of this unusualglitch inThe Witcher 3was met with a steady stream of amused responses from the crowd on Reddit.
Referencing the notoriously pushy birds from Nintendo’sThe Legend of Zeldafranchise, one commenter joked that those chickens must have “dropped into the world during the Conjunction.” Other responses pointed to the long history of video games doling out strange, and often brutal, punishments for harassing the cluelessly clucking creatures, with one Redditor stating that “everyone knows” not to mess with chickens in a game. One user chimed in to add that the behavior of the pushy digital creatures inThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntwasn’t too far off from their real-world counterparts, simply stating “I have chickens, can confirm.”
Even though Geralt of Rivia has been known to inspire fear in the hearts of even some of the most powerful inhabitants of the Continent, this amusing clip shows that the chickens are thoroughly unimpressed by all that clout. Maybe the nextupdate forThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntcan address the unusual glitch and ensure that Geralt stays steady on his feet even when being pushed around by unruly chickens.
The Witcher 3: Wild Huntis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
