Shouts are an integral part ofSkyrim. The Dragonborn canlearn these powers extremely fastand nearly-instantly recite and use words they discover, despite others having to practice and train for decades to be able to use the Thu’um at all. One Shout that does a lot more than meets the eye is Slow Time.

The Slow Time shout is useful for just about any type of build inSkyrimas players are not affected by the Thu’um’s distortion of time nearly as much as NPCs. This means an Archer can get a few more arrows off than normal, a Thief can sneak around unaware enemies flawlessly, and a bruiser can deftly get behind their opponent to crack their skull from the flank. Getting this shout is no small task, though.

What Does The Slow Time Shout Do?

Like most shouts inSkyrimthe Slow Time shout is made up of three words. As players learn more words to Slow Time the more powerful its effect becomes, at the cost of a much longer recharge time. Upon learning the first word (and spending a Dragon Soul) players areable to slow the gameby 70% for 8 all-too-brief seconds.

The second word increases this slowing effect to 80%, and increases its duration to 12 seconds. The full Thu’um slows time to just 10% of normal and increases the duration to 16 seconds – this ultimate version of Slow Time is so powerful that players can snatch incoming projectiles out of the air andmove completely unnoticedaround combative NPCs to become stealthed by the end of its duration.

How To Get The Slow Time Shout

The words to the Slow Time shout are found in three places: Hag’s End, Korvanjund, and Labyrinthian. Hag’s End is a Nordic Ruin in The Reach, just west of Dragon Bridge, that can only be accessed through Deepwood Redoubt, a nearby forsworn camp.

The word walls in Korvanjund and Labyrinthian can only beaccessed during (or after) certain quests. Korvanjund’s word wall is tied to the quest “The Jagged Crown” in the Civil War arc, while Labyrinthian’s word wall is tied to the penultimate quest in the College of Winterhold storyline. Get to the end of the Labyrinthian Tribune to find this last word wall.
