AlthoughSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseis still in theaters, fans are already looking ahead to next March when the third and final installment is set to arrive in theaters. Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller recently revealed some information about what Spider-People fans will see inSpider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versewill pick up right whereAcross the Spider-Verseleft off, with Miles Morales trapped in the wrong universe and Gwen Stacy putting together a team to find him. The movie will also feature more of the Spot, the reality-bending villain introduced inAcross the Spider-Verse. While specific details about the plot and new characters are kept quiet, Lord and Miller teased fans with an update about Gwen’s story inBeyond the Spider-Verse.

Though much aboutBeyond the Spider-Verseis kept secret, Lord and Miller have started dropping breadcrumbs. Lord and Miller recently discussed the possibility of multiple Gwens showing up inBeyond the Spider-Verseon an episode ofCrew Call with Anthony D’Alessandro. When asked if audiences will get to see Gwens from other universes in the third movie, Lord said, “Currently yes.” Miller echoed the confirmation, saying, “Currently, yes. I would say that, yes.” Lord added, “It’s on the page,” which Miller followed with, “It is…I think that that…These things evolve as they go.”
Lord teased that there’s one specific Multiversal Variant of Gwen that he’s excited about. Miller jumped in to say, “Yes, I know exactly the one you’re talking about,” to which Lord replied with, “You know the one I’m thinking of, which is based on… I’m not gonna say anything. I’m not gonna say anything.” Miller said, “But it is sort of plot-integral, I would say,” teasing that one universe’s Gwen might change the game entirely inBeyond the Spider-Verse. The two producers also confirmed that one of the Gwen variants will significantly impact Gwen and Miles' relationship, which took a couple of hits as Gwen’s secret motives wererevealed inSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
While its theatrical release is still months away,Beyond the Spider-Verseis already garnering plenty of excitement among fans. If the reveal of Earth-42’s Miles Morales is anything to go by, Gwen’s variants will likely be just as surprising and mind-blowing for audiences. The real question is: how will Gwen’s variants differ from the version audiences have known and loved? There’s a chance there could be a villainous Spider-Gwen somewhere in the universe, but fans will have to wait forBeyond the Spider-Verseto hit theaters to know for sure.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versewill hit theaters on Jul 11, 2025.
