Upcoming Switch RPGBravely Default 2will have a news update in the near future, according to the series' Twitter page. The team behind the hotly-anticipated game has gone quiet the last few months, but a new announcement could reveal whenBravely Default 2is releasing in the near future.
Bravely Default 2is actually the third main game in theBravely Defaultseries.Bravely Defaultand its direct sequel,Bravely Second: End Layer,both took place in a world known as Luxendarc and told an ongoing story. However,Bravely Default 2will be set in a new world. Even so, it carries over hallmarkBravely Defaultgameplay mechanics, such as a battle system centered around storing and spending actions. The last major news for the game came in March, when aBravely Default 2demo released via the Switch eShop.

The Twitter post includes sketches ofBravely Default characters by character designer Naoki Ikushima. It teases that new information will be coming soon regardingBravely Default 2. The new update appeared as part of a tweet marking the 8th anniversary ofBravely Default’s well-received release on the 3DSin Japan, though Americans did not get the game until 2014.
Fans have been expectingBravely Default 2news for some time. The game was announced with a 2020 release date, and development was apparently far along by early 2020 given the game’s demo. It is possible that the COVID-19 pandemic slowed development, but recent evidence signifies that hasn’t had a huge effect. In September, theAustralian Classification Board ratedBravely Default 2.
Fans of the series are likely curious as to how the sequel will improve on the first game after a Square Enix producer apologized forthe supposedly low quality ofBravely Second: End Layerin April. It’s possible the new game’s developers are hesitant to revive that controversy by releasing many pre-release game details. If that’s true, details may only come out right before launch.
That said, many fans are excited to see the return of Square Enix’s innovative turn-based RPG series.Bravely Default 2comes at a time when titles likeFinal Fantasy 16shift away from turn-based fights.
