Running from location to location can grow tedious inStardew Valley.The player character moves fairly slowly, even when riding the horse or boosted by speed-buffing consumables. However, there’s a solution:warp technology,which can immediately transport the farmer to a number of destinations.
There are a few different types of warping items inStardew Valley, but the main two are totems and obelisks.Obelisks are a permanent fixtureon the player’s farm, but can be incredibly expensive to build.Warp Totems, on the other hand, are consumed on use but are much cheaper to craft. Here’s a quick breakdown of the crafting recipes for each totem, and other ways players can obtain them.

Though not much has changed in regard to Warp Totems, the introduction of Mystery Boxes now offers players a new opportunity to get their hands on certain types. Here’s what you need to know.
Warp Totems In The Valley
There are three Warp Totems that can take players to various areas around the main map of Stardew Valley: theBeach, Mountains,andFarm.Each of these types can also appear inside aMystery BoxorGolden Mystery Box. Starting on the first day of Summer in Year 1, players also have a chance to dig up these totems from Artifact Spots.
Warp Totem: Beach
As the name implies, theWarp Totem: Beachwill take the player to the Beach south of Pelican Town, where they can fish in the ocean or forage along the shore. Players receive this crafting recipe atForaging Level 6,which requires the following ingredients:
The player will receive five Beach warp totems upon completing theOcean Fishing Bundlein the Fish Tankat the Community Center. They also have a small chance to find one in a Fishing Pond populated byLobster, Crabs, Cockles, Shrimp, Mussels, or Oysters.If the player’s secret gift-giver at the Feast of the Winter Star is Willy, players may receive 25 Warp Totem: Beach as a gift from him.
Warp Totem: Mountain
When used, theWarp Totem: Mountainswill take the player to the area northeast of Pelican Town, near Robin’s house. Here, players can do some lake fishing, visit the carpentry shop or Adventurer’s Guild, or head to the Mines to dig up ore and gems. The recipe is received atForaging Level 7and uses the following items:
Like some other Warp Totems, the Mountain totem has a small chance to beproduced by Fish Ponds— in this case, by those containingSnails, Periwinkle, or Crayfish.
Warp Totem: Farm
TheWarp Totem: Farmis always a handy one to take on long or dangerous expeditions. If players need to quickly teleport home from the Mines or Skull Cavern to avoid dying or passing out from exhaustion, the Warp Totem: Farm is an easy out.Available atForaging Level 8,this recipe requires the following items:
The only Fish Pond that may produce a Warp Totem: Farm is one populated withBlobfish,though the chance is very small. It’s also possible to find a pack of five when openingtreasure chests in Skull Cavern.Players will earn five Warp Totem: Farm after donating 80 items to the Museum, and can receive three as a prize at the Trout Derby festival. Lastly, it can be purchased from the Island Trader for fiveTaro Root, or from the Casino in Calico Desert for 1000 tokens.
Warping Outside The Valley
Players can also craft Warp Totems to take them to the two main areas outside the valley: Calico Desert and Ginger Island. Unlike the previous three, these crafting recipes are not learned by leveling up, but instead must be purchased. Their components are a bit rarer, but they’re often worth it.
Warp Totem: Desert
Getting to Calico Desertearly is key when trying to dig deep in Skull Cavern — and with this Warp Totem, players won’t have to wait for Pam’s bus. Unlike most Warp Totems, theWarp Totem: Desertis purchasable, and can be bought from the Desert Trader for3Omni Geode.
Of course, for those who want to save their geodes and craft their own totems, the player can also purchase the recipe from the Desert Trader in exchange for10Iridium Bar.The recipe requires the following items:
Warp Totem: Island
There’s no need to rely on Willy’s boat for trips to Ginger Island. TheWarp Totem: Islandcan transport the player to the tropics immediately. The recipe price is a little steep, as players must purchase it for10,000g from the Volcano Dwarf in the Volcano Dungeon.Once the player has the Warp Totem: Island recipe, they’ll need the following items to craft it.
Players will also get one free Warp Totem: Island after repairing the Farm Obelisk on the Ginger Island farm.
In order to do business with the Volcano Dwarf and thus purchase this crafting recipe, the player must first learn the dwarf language by donating all four Dwarf Scrolls to the museum.
