Cats And Dogs Don’t Have Much To Do
Currently,Stardew Valleyplayers have the ability to adopt either one cat or one dog during the very first Spring season of the game. This pet has very little to do other than hanging out around the farm and looking adorable. Initially, only one pet color was available, but ConcernedApe later added various colors and styles of pet for players to choose from. Players can also pay 500 gold toStardew Valley’s resident Wizardto change their pet’s appearance at any time.
Players can earn the cat or dog’s friendship by petting it every day and keeping its water bowl full. Having a high friendship with a pet is a key part of earning a positive farmevaluation from the spirit of Grandpa, which happens in Year 3 of the game. However, because the pet’s friendship cannot decrease and there are only two ways to interact with it, some players feel that the dog or cat is not very interesting and does not add much to the game, despite being quite cute. Putting a hat on the cat or dog won’t change much, but will at least be a new way to interact with the sweet little pet.

Players Need More Options To Show Off Their Hat Collection
Hats are another item that players will quickly acquire large numbers of as they progress throughStardew Valley.A character known as theHat Mouseruns a shop deep in Cindersap Forest, where players can purchase a wide variety of hats. More hats are added for completing several of the game’s Achievements, such as earning one million gold, expanding the player’s house, filling out the museum collection, and more. Other hats can be found in the Mines and Skull Cavern, purchased at festivals, and tailored at Emily’s house.
Currently, players have only a few options for showing off their extensive hat collection. In addition to wearing one hat themselves, players can put hats on their own children and certain rare scarecrows. A previous update toStardew Valleyalso added the option to put hats on the player’s horse as well as sea urchins kept in fish tanks on the farm. While putting a hat on the cat or dog only adds one more option, it can make the cat or dog feel more like a part of the family, especially if the player’s horse and/or children are also sporting stylish hats. Unfortunately,Stardew Valley’s1.6 updatestill does not have a release date. However, once it drops, the community can celebrate by showing off their cute hat-wearing pets.
Stardew Valleyis currently available for Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One.
