After taking the Vanguard’s Oath inStarfield, players join Hadrian in an impossible mission to survive a Terrormorph attack. The United Colonies’ faction quest starts strong and continues to deliver strong narrative and plot twists up until the end.
At the start, every fresh Vanguard newcomer must go through the Orientation Hall where they go through a few minutes of lore narration. That long museum walk introduces players to a big chunk ofStarfield’s history from the eyes of the United Colonies. There, people will learn the name of the Fleet Admiral of the UC during the Colony War. Former head of the UC Navy, Francois Sanon, also known as Vae Victis, was executed after the Colony War for the acts he committed, causing casualties on both sides.

After going through a lot of hardship to finally convince the Cabinet that Hadrian isn’t like her father and that her involvement is crucial, another Terrormorph outbreak happens but this time,it’s in New Atlantis. Following the events, players meet with Deputy Maclntyre to celebrate their citizenship and state that there’s someone within the UC ranks who wishes to connect with them. When players go down to Subsection Seven, they’ll meet with Vae Victis in the flesh, and they’ll learn that he’s still alive after all this time.
This encounter creates the first real choice to make in the United Colonies faction quest, whereplayers have the choice to tell Hadrianor hold that knowledge from her. But, as the quest progresses, Hadrian will start learning about Sanon’s involvement in the Terrormorph outbreak and players will have many chances to tell Hadrian about her father’s existence and involvement in this entire operation.
Should You Reveal Sanon’s Secret In Starfield?
Revealing Vae Victis' involvement in the Terrormorph outbreak on Tau Ceti and New Atlantis will cause the Cabinet to swiftly deal with him and the United Colonies faction quest will end.Starfieldcreates noticeable freedom in decision-makingto the point players can even carry Sanon’s secret to the news channel and broadcast it to the entire population, not just the leadership. The MC will constantly face the choice to tell the truth or keep lying throughout the entire United Colonies' faction quest up until the end.
If players hide Sanon’s secret and pin everything on Orlase, the UC quest will continue with a series of Preventive Action missions every time they meet with Vae Victis. The continuation of the United Colonies' faction quest through the Preventive Action missions is basically working as an assassin for Sanon by eliminating the targets he provides. Most targets are well-defended ondifferent planets acrossStarfield’s enormous spacemap. However, eliminating them should be a simple task for willing mercenaries as a source of easy cash.
