Naughty Dog’sThe Last of Usstands tall as one of the most critically acclaimed games ever made. It has had a sequel release since, with rumors suggesting that aremake forThe Last of Usis also in the works. Lately, though, fans have been discovering glitches from the original game, and a new bug has been documented that is very similar to one from the game’s launch.

The original glitch could occur when playing asEllie in the firstThe Last of Usgame, specifically happening during the hide-and-seek fight against David. Due to this glitch, Ellie’s pistol remains equipped on her when the checkpoint is reloaded. Players are then free to fire upon David, though there is no effect as the gun does not damage him. Recently, a fan has discovered a variation of thisThe Last of Usglitch.

Gilbert977 was able to find the bug during the final sequence ofThe Last of Us, where Ellie becomes playable again. Unlike manyscenes inThe Last of Us, the moment is intended to be entirely narrative-driven without combat, and players are simply supposed to follow Joel to a scripted destination through the woods. Gilbert977 has documented the glitch with cinematic screenshots, which show Ellie wielding a pistol while she is not supposed to have one equipped.

Another fan, GuttedGoofyGoober, has replied with their own remarks on the glitch. They claim to have also performed the trick by either pressing the left trigger button to aim the gun, or the right trigger button to shoot. Gilbert977 has since confirmed that this fan’s method was also how they were able to achieve the glitch. This suggests that the glitch may be simple to perform inThe Last of Us. Interestingly, fans may not have thought to aim or fire a weapon during this scene due to how peaceful it is, as there are no enemies in sight.

GuttedGoofyGoober goes on to say that the glitch has some strange side effects. Ellie will reportedly hold the gun, but doing so may “cause her to A-pose and contort her body in strange ways.” This demonstrates that theability for Ellie to drawa gun in this sequence is a mistake, and the glitch creates a fundamental bug for the character model. Gilbert977 admits that they have “disturbing” screenshots of Ellie’s character model contortion.

However, the fan has decided not to share these images. Either way, those who have experimented with the controls during this segmenthave stumbled upon an entertainingglitch inThe Last of Usthat many others are sure to miss.

The Last of Usis available now on PS3 and PS4.
