Minecraftplayers have made mods for almost everything in the massively popular game, from simple adjustments that make it possible for item stacks to go above 64, to the more complicated constructions such as totalremakes of classic games likeDOOMand the now defunctPokemonmod. On the more complex side of the modding coin, another classic remake has come along, this time faithfully recreatingThe Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Link’s Awakeningwas first released for the original Game Boy and has also since been revamped and rereleased on the Nintendo Switch. As a fan favorite installment in theZeldafranchise for decades, its debut in the world ofMinecraftmodding seems to have been inevitable. The stunning Hyrule recreation was released on the website Planet Minecraft and comes to fans courtesy of the two person team comprising of redditors Pickledscones and Thelasteddieonearth.

The instantly familiarMinecraftmap has been in the works for two years now and includes all locations, enemies and bosses from the original Nintendo classic. Screenshots of the mod posted to theZeldasub reddit by Pickledscones show non playable characters in their proper environments like Mabe Village, enemies lurking in their dungeons, Octoroks on the beach of Toronbo Shores, as well as the famousWind Fish’s Egg atop Mt. Tamaranch.

Longtime players ofMinecraftwill know howtime consuming it can be to simply build a nice looking housein the game, let alone the multitude of houses, temples, and other locations ofLink’s Awakening. However, with two years of work behind them, it looks like Pickledscones and Thelasteddieonearth are nearing the finish line on their mod. Every enemy can be hit and every boss can be beat. The only programming the duo have left is implementing all the story elements, at which point the mod will be complete.

The good news forMinecraftandZeldafans who are eager to dive right into this beautiful and blocky version of Hyrule is that the creators have released a fully playable demo free to play for anyone interested. They have further stated that once the mod is finished it will remain free.

For those who prefer the Nintendo 64 eraZelda, Pickledscones has also posted images to theZeldasub reddit of anOcarina of Time Minecraftworld that they are working on and other users have alreadycreated aBreath of the Wildworld. WhicheverZeldaentry fans might prefer, there is now plenty of Hyrule action to be had inMinecraft.
