Despite her youth, Ciri has already been through a lot. After the presumed tragic death of her parents, she also had to deal with the loss of her home and all of her family and friends. Even though she found new home with Geralt, Ciri’s past has marked her and made her wise beyond her years.

As Ciri discovers her magical powers in the second season ofThe Witcherand learns how to fight, it becomes obvious how much she’s grown as a person. Some of her best quotes inThe Witcher’s season two then reflect her personal development, her fears, joys, or simply thoughts and feelings as a whole.

Whilethis quote might seem funny, it also tells a lot about Ciri’s character. Despite her royal origin, Ciri always had a penchant for freedom and doing things that were considered unsuitable for a girl or a princess (or both).

It’s the same spirit, the taste for life, that leads to her training at Kaer Morhen and also helps her to survive even when Geralt’s no longer around to protect her in the books. A similar example is Ciri choosing to become a witcher in The Witcher 3 other than following in her father’s footstepsas the new empress of Nilfgaard.

6There’s Time To Stand Still And There’s Time To Keep Moving.

But when the time arrives to go on a journey again and learn more about her powers, she does it because she realizes it’s for the best. The second season’s finale then suggests Ciri is about to undertake yet another journey and it remains to be seen what she will learn next.

5I Want To Be Indifferent To The Past. To The Lies. To The Things I’ve Done.

Even though Ciri starts a new life at Geralt’s side, she still struggles with her past and nightmares. She can’t forget the life she left behind and blames herself for her past actions.

Fortunately for Ciri, Geralt is quick to explain that she can’t kill her feelings. Ciri eventually gets the chance to confront her former life one last time in the vision conjured up by Voleth Meir. She gets to say goodbye to her loved ones, and emerges in the real world again, stronger for it.

4I’ve Destroyed So Many Things. Please, Just Let Me Help Heal Something For Once. I’m Meant For This.

A big revelation in the second season is that Ciri’s blood can recreate the mutagen needed to create new Witchers. That’s something that’s been lost a while ago, and as a result, the Witchers were slowly dying out. Ciri is then determined to make up for her past actions by helping Vesemir create new Witchers.

However, she takes it a step too far andwants to become a Witcher herself, even if it means she risks her life. Luckily, Geralt arrives just in the nick of time to talk her out of it, and in the end, Ciri finds her inner strength anyway, without the need to risk everything.

3No Matter How Hard I Train, No Matter What I Do, It’ll Never Be Enough.

When Ciri arrives at Kaer Morhen and starts training with the Witchers, it doesn’t take her long to realize she’s not like them. She isn’t as strong as fast. It isn’t helping that Lambert is quick to make fun of Ciri or come up with a snide remark.

Ciri’s desperation that she’ll never be good enough is something other characters know as well. For example, Yennefer is convinced she is nothing without her magic, and her desperation drives her to strike a deal with Voleth Meir, no matter how dangerous it is.

2You Don’t Seem Like A Monster To Me.

Despite her past experiences, Ciri still has a light deep inside that allows her to see people around her in a good way. So when she meets Geralt’s old friend, the cursed Nivellen, Ciri is initially convinced thatNivellen isn’t a monsterand doesn’t agree with his assessment when he says so.

Later on, though, Nivellen’s past is revealed, including the circumstances that led to him being cursed. And when Ciri learns the truth, she leaves Nivellen behind with Geralt because while Nivellen might not have acted like a monster to her and Geralt, that doesn’t mean he didn’t do so in the past. The basic moral could be that it’s not someone’s appearance that makes them monstrous but their actions.

Witchers can’t have biological children but thanks to his bond with Ciri, Geralt gained a daughter in her. And Ciri sees him the same way - despite the fact that Geralt has the social graces of a wild boar, as she also puts it.

The relationship between them is one of the highlights of the second season and something that makes it even better than season one. Even though it’s later revealed that Ciri’s biological father is still alive, it’s Geralt who makes sure that she isn’t alone and scared.
