While there is no shortage ofanime tourism options in Japan, sometimes opportunities arise that are cooler than usual. This is one of those times. Riding on the back of the continued popularity of the animeDemon Slayerin Japan and beyond, a new event is opening across Japan in February that will allow fans of the show to join the Demon Slayer Corps.
The Demon Slayer Corps are a key part ofDemon Slayer, and the organization that most of the main characters are in. In the world ofDemon Slayer,set in Japan’s Taisho Era, the threat of demons is always present. It is up to the Demon Slayer Corps to train to hunt down and kill these demons and try to protect humans from being killed and eaten by them. Being in the Demon Slayer Corps is hard work, and the members are often shown training hard in the anime, both physically and mentally.
This special event is happening as a special collaboration betweenDemon Slayerand VS PARK, which is a facility with several locations in Japan that combines the idea of a game center with a theme park. VS PARK, owned byBandai Namco, is an entertainment venue where you can take on challenges and play games against your friends and family that are physical and use your whole body. It is meant to be like being on a variety TV show, combining elements of sports and video games together.
ThisDemon Slayerevent will be the same, bringing the anime to life to let people experience Demon Slayer Corps training. Upon entering the facility to participate in the experience, potential Demon Slayer Corps members will be given a breathing aptitude test. InDemon Slayer, each of the Corps members has a certain breathing type that they are studying which gives them their power to fight against the demons. With 9different possible breathing typesas showcased in the anime, it will be exciting to see what you get.
After getting the results of your breathing aptitude test, the experience will recommend different types of training you should undertake at the facility. These will be in the form of playing the other games and challenges in VS Park, and when you complete them, you can get a special sticker to show that you have completed the training for your breathing type. If you can complete them all, you earn a special certificate saying that you are a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Plus, on top of the usual activities that VS Park, there will be a special activity that is based onDemon Slayercalled “Sling Adventure.” This will be a digital activity played with a screen, though the exact details have not been released yet beyond a photo showing players throwing real balls at a screen to hit targets. What we do know is that the game will feature the leadingDemon SlayertrioTanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu, who will all be voiced by their original voice actors in the anime for this special event.

It will be held at all the VS PARK locations in Japan, with locations in Osaka, Saitama, Kyoto, and more.
