Riot Forge announced that it will be delaying the release of its upcomingLeague of Legendsspin-off titles,Convergence: A League of Legends StoryandSong of Nunu: A League of Legends Story. Both games are centered around champions, Ekko and Nunu & Willump, respectively.Since being introduced by Riot Games in 2019, Riot Forge has collaborated with third-party developers to create various titles. According to the titles' respective Steam pages, they were originally scheduled to release this year.Convergencewill be a single-player action platformer featuring the time-manipulating champion Ekko, made in collaboration with Double Stallion Games. Meanwhile, Tequila Works’Song of Nunuwill be a narrative adventurethat follows Nunu and his yeti Willump in their journey through the icy mountains of Freljord.
Additionally, the publisher announced that the next gen version ofRuined King: A League of Legends Storyis still in development and will also arrive next year. PS4 and Xbox One players will be able to upgrade to PS5 version for free once it’s released. The turn-based RPG follows a team of champions, comprised of Yasuo, Ahri, Illaoi, Braum, Miss Fortune, and Pyke, as they set out to find and stop the Ruined King Viego from spreading a deadly black mist over Runeterra.
Despite the news, fans seem to be understanding as they send their well-wishes to the Riot Forge team, as well as its collaborators Double Stallion Games and Tequila Works. It’s no secret that Riot Games as a whole has been busy with manyLeague of Legendsprojects to showcase more of the game’s vast world and rich lore. One of the most recent games announced was aLeague of LegendsMMORPGset in Runeterra. With the developers' packed schedules and workloads, it seems almost inevitable to have setbacks and delays.
Nonetheless, fans need not worry because, as Riot Forge mentioned in its statement, delaying games will give developers extra time to work out any bugs and glitches, ensure they’re doing right byLeague of Legends' in-depth world-building, among other tasks. If done successfully, fans of the MOBA and even non-players will have an overall fun experience.
