While the selection might not be as instantly exciting as Fall 2023, the quarter has plenty of potentially great shows, including sequels and new series. The biggest Winter 2024 anime is undoubtedly a fresh name, albeit one based on a very popular web manga.
As always, theWinter 2024 anime lineupis not contained within a single streaming service, so fans looking to consume everything will need multiple subscriptions. Even then, they will still miss out on a few anime that are not airing on Western platforms. Crunchyroll and HIDIVE have the widest selection of series, although the former’s library far exceeds the latter’s. Hulu and Netflix also have a couple of exclusives.

Crunchyroll has announced its full Winter 2024 anime, and the lineup should be complete by this point. A few of Fall 2023’s best anime likeFrierenandThe Apothecary Diarieshave also continued to air new episodes.
While other platforms are certainly worth checking out since they might be able to scratch a different itch, in terms of sheer volume,Crunchyroll’s Winter 2024 animecannot be beaten. Consequently, if someone can only invest in one subscription and wishes to keep up with as many simulcast series as possible, this platform is the main option since it has the most genres. The Dangers In My Heart, Urusei Yatsura, & More
HIDIVE is an alternative to Crunchyroll, although the service’s selection is very limited compared to the latter. Still, HIDIVE has a couple of noteworthy anime per season, and Winter 2024 is no exception.The Dangers in My Heartwas one of the best romance anime of 2023, and the sequel has not failed to keep up that momentum.My Instant Death Abilityis based on a popular light novel series that straight-up mocks isekai tropes by regularly killing off their representatives. The adaptation has been a mixed bag so far, but the quality of the episodes is on an upswing.
HIDIVE’s Winter 2024 animeselection also emphasizes “mature” content, at least in the sense of containing a lot of graphic fanservice.Chained SoldierandGushing Over Magical Girlspush the envelope in this area, although they have not been equally successful. Before the season’s launch, the former was the more highly-anticipated series of the two, largely thanks to its fairly popular manga; however, the adaptation has been rather lackluster so far. Although not lacking in decent action and charming characters, the source material is primarily known for its risqué enslavement scenes, most of which have been neutered or translated poorly by the anime. Consequently,Chained Soldierhas fallen flat. Still, the anime has its moments.
Gushing Over Magical Girlshas opted to go in the opposite direction by expanding on the manga’s fanservice. Now, this anime is certainly not for everyone, but it also knows its audience and is more than willing to cater to them. The show also has decent humor, so it has more going on as well.

Netflix, Hulu, & Max Winter 2024 Anime Lineup (& Other Platforms)
Delicious In Dungeon, Ishura, & More
While not generally associated with anime, platforms like Hulu and Netflix usually have a handful of seasonal shows. The latter’s two announced anime are particularly exciting, although Hulu’s picks are not bad either.Delicious in Dungeonis shaping up to be a delight and one of Winter 2024’s better comedies, whileMonsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnationis based on an old one-shot manga by Eiichiro Oda ofOne Piecefame.
Hulu’sIshuratells an isekai story that is somewhat reminiscent of something likeDrifters.Synduality: Noir Part 2is a decent continuation and one of the few mecha anime airing in Winter 2024, whileUndead Unluckis a ridiculously entertaining battle shonen adaptation with fun fights, likable characters, and an interesting power system.
Max has received a very late addition to the Winter 2024 anime season, withNinja Kamuidebuting on February 11. An original story, the series instantly garnered attention due to its stellar animation and visceral action, with the latter not holding back on gore.

Winter 2024 Anime With No Streaming Platforms
Shaman King & More
Every season has a couple of anime that never make it to Western platforms, with the usual candidates being kids’ shows or stories that do not have much appeal to non-Japanese audiences. Compared to most other seasons, Winter 2024 has fewer series without streaming platforms than usual. Only a small handful of anime have decided to remain in Japan.
Shaman King: Flowersseems like it would be a natural fit for Western audiences since the property is fairly well known, and the reboot series is available on Netflix. Maybe the sequel will eventually make its way to that same platform, although that is just wishful thinking at the moment.The Way of Poncenters around mahjong, a board game that is synonymous with Japan and does not have much of a presence outside the country. Consequently, it is not that surprising that this anime has not announced streaming plans. That said, it is pretty good.
