Summary
World of Warcraft Classichas released a new update for Season of Discovery, which primarily deals with class tuning, but also makes some important changes to the Stranglethorn Vale boss. While it’s safe to say that Season of Discovery has been a major success forWorld of Warcraft Classic, the experiment is still ongoing. Its premise has allowed the developers to reinvent the Classic experience, divided into five distinct phases, each being capped off with an endgame raid instance appropriate for its level cap.
For the second phase, Season of Discovery chose the iconic dungeon of Gnomeregan, turning it into a raid for Level 40 characters to challenge. Though the new content has allowed moreWorld of Warcraftclassesto shine, some – like the Paladin – are in dire need of help. As a contrast to Gnomeregan, the second phase also offers a PvP free-for-all event in Stranglethorn Vale, complete with a dangerous boss lurking in the area.

The new Season of Discovery update brings notable buffs to Mages, Hunters, and Paladins. However, the patch also removes one of the more unique aspects of theBlood Moon event in Season of Discovery, as Kha’damu no longer drops his unique weapon that noWorld of Warcraftplayer can loot or equip. While details on the class tuning were known ahead of release, the changes made to Kha’damu came as a surprise.
Though Mages, Warriors, and to a lesser extent Hunters, are all happy with the latest patch, a significant number ofPaladins in Season of Discoveryfeel that their class is having an identity crisis – especially since the changes haven’t been effective enough to make any of the three specializations excel when compared to other classes. Thankfully, there are still three more phases for Season of Discovery to address the major points of frustration that Paladin players face.
As for Kha’damu, not only was his sword removed from the loot table, but it would seem that Blizzard is aiming to make theWorld of Warcraftbossmore accessible to players. His self-healing abilities have been reduced, and he becomes more susceptible to attacks the larger he gets. ThoughWorld of Warcraftplayers were happy to throw their characters into certain death to overwhelm the boss, the new changes should make the whole affair less daunting.
