Fans of physical media face an uphill battle in the modern gaming era; as digital downloads become more ubiquitous, many fear that the days of cartridges and CDs could be coming to a swift end. The same could be said for dedicated gaming hardware as major industry players like Google andXbox push for cloud-native games. This, however, hasn’t deterred one dedicated Reddit user who managed to amass an undeniably impressive collection ofXbox 360consoles.
Recently submitted to the r/xbox subreddit, Redditor u/Sera_gamingcollector shared a post detailing their extensive lineup ofXbox 360systems. With the redResident Evil 5console and controller front-and-center, this nine-system set likely outpaces those owned by most other Microsoft superfans. From the notoriously malfunction-prone original model to the limited editionGears of War 3variant, u/Sera_gamingcollector won’t have to worry about being sidelined by a red ring any time soon.

Collecting older Xbox consoles may not be a particularly popular hobby given Microsoft’s focus on backward compatibility, but many collectors will argue that there’s something to be said for running games on the hardware on which they were intended to play. Last year, Microsoft made a slew of legacy Xbox andXbox 360 games playable on the Xbox Series X, though there were still some notable exclusions. Of course, u/Sera_gamingcollector will never have to wait for updates to more modern Microsoft consoles, as they’ve got a surplus of systems on which to play.
This collection calls to mind a similar showcase posted on r/xbox back in May when Redditor u/quattroconcept showed off acollection of classic original Xbox controllers. Ranging from sealed selections seemingly kept pristine since the system’s launch in late 2001 to newer twentieth-anniversary variants compatible with the Xbox One, were these two Reddit users to collaborate, they would likely have the most impressive collection of Xbox consoles and peripherals of all time.
Now two generations out of date, the Xbox 360 may seem like an irrelevant piece of hardware, but it still has the support of both a dedicated community and Microsoft itself. In stark contrast to Nintendo’s practice of shuttering services for last-gen consoles, Microsoft continues to support the system, issuing anew update for the Xbox 360as recently as last month. Granted, this was a minor bug fix meant to rectify a negligible issue with the UI, but it was nevertheless a gesture that was greatly appreciated by those who still primarily play on Microsoft’s 17-year-old hardware.
