This is undeniably an exciting prospect for those thinking of picking up the newest Xbox console when it launches later this year, especially as news and footage of the titles coming to next-generation hardware have been limited.
Yet, many were slightly confused about the wording of the announcement on Twitter, with the post claiming that the new game reveals and footage would be coming from Xbox’s “global developers partners.” Aaron Greenberg - the general manager of Xbox Games Marketing - has since clarified what that means for the event, confirming that noXbox Game Studios titleswill be shown on the upcoming broadcast.

“So pumped to see our partners showing us a first look atXbox Series Xgameplay next week,” Greenberg stated on Twitter, joining fans as they celebrated the upcoming event. He continues, “also know the Xbox Game Studios teams are hard at work on some big summer plans. More details soon,” clarifying that this won’t see the inclusion of a number of major exclusives for the console. While that does mean that fans won’t get glimpses at 1st party releases likeHalo: Infiniteor the rumoredFable 4in a week’s time, it seems Xbox have far more in the pipeline, which means fans have a lot more to look forward to as Microsoft prepares for the release of the Series X.
It also seems likely that, without Xbox showing off its exclusive lineup for the months ahead, a number of significant 3rd party titles could finally take center stage for a major reveal. Withthe cancellation of E3seeing a number of major companies have to hold back from debuting their biggest new releases, this could be a fantastic platform for those giant names to let fans see exactly what they’re working on.
It seems that Xbox has a big summer planned in any case, and with this event only beginning to show what they have lined up for the Series X at launch, it’s clear that Microsoft is pulling out all the stops to ensure it’s a major player in the years to come.
