Nintendo has just announced the title of the next game in theLegend of Zeldafranchise,Tears of the Kingdom, and Reddit users have discovered that a subreddit for the game was somehow created weeks ago.The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis going to expand upon the story fromBreath of the Wild, and will be similar in style and tone. The next installment in the franchise also received a 2023 release date, but none of this information explains how a Reddit account knew about the impending title.
Indeed, the name of the upcoming game was only just announced atthe September Nintendo Directevent. And yet, theTears of the Kingdomsubreddit was created more than a week ago. This has left many fans, who found the page in the wake of Nintendo’s announcement, to wonder how the creator knew the name of the game.

The next addition to theLegend of Zeldafranchise looks as vibrant and unique as its predecessor.Tears of the Kingdomadds new traversal mechanicsto help Link maneuver through Hyrule, and the reveal trailer shows stunning new locations floating in the clouds. Fans have already been voicing theories and hopes for the upcoming title, which will be released in May 2023. But nobody can say for sure how theTears of the Kingdomsubreddit was created more than a week ago. Many suspect the account that started the subreddit, called milonssecretcastle, was created by a member of Nintendo.
The page could have also been created by an insider, or perhaps by Nintendo itself. It certainly isn’t a coincidence, however.The Breath of the Wildsequel announcementwas unknown to fans, and the name had not been leaked online. The fact that the subreddit was set up a little more than a week ago, then, suggests that whoever is responsible for its creation had inside knowledge of Nintendo’s latest project. And then there’s the name of the Reddit user, milonssecretcastle, which is a reference to a Japanese title that was released in 1986.
All of this information is very confusing, and it’s doubtful that fans will get answers soon. All that can be said is that, fortunately, theBreath of the Wild sequelis officially coming. In less than nine months, players will be able to get their hands on the next installment in theLegend of Zeldafranchise, and perhaps by then the mystery of the Reddit user will have been revealed.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwill be released for Nintendo Switch on August 02, 2025.
